They never challenged themselves at the top clubs surrounded by world class players. At least Kane has gone to an elite club to see if he can handle it and to win trophies. Record goal scorer but he’ll not be regarded as one of the games greats because he never tested himself in elite company.

A man who had sex with his mother in "disgusting" offences has walked free from court.

He had been estranged from his mother as a child but after coming back to the North East he slept with her on a number of occasions when she was drunk. "She would often binge drink and would be very drunk. Against that background, he was drinking as well. He had sex with her at least five times."

The man, of Newcastle, who is known to be a local season ticket holder at St James Park, was sentenced to a two-year community order with rehabilitation and told he must sign the sex offenders register for five years.

Gillespie?

He was a make weight in the deal that brought Andy Cole to United.

From Newcastle! He didn't play in the Blackburn team.

We went on to sign Andy Cole because Chris Sutton chose the Blackburn money over the United trophies. As did Shearer. They got the one, which I'm sure they'll be happy enough with.

Especially Shearer, who didn't disappear into insignificance like Sutton did.

Roy Keane, he chose the trophies.

I'm cool with either, whatever, it's surely the players themselves who should want medals, not people in the press critiquing those that don't.

Good spot, not sure why I chucked him in there. Not sure who I was confusing him for, but I was like 12 in 1995 <laugh>

We all know what happened to Sutton, at least I do.......the useless prick!

Ahhh Kevin Gallacher is who I think I was confusing him with.
Kevin Gallacher, Keith Gillespie.....had to google the Blackburn 95 team there<laugh> Both KGs

He chose to go to Blackburn, no one forced him

Ripley and Wilcox were good on the wings. United should really have won it though taking the squads on paper I’d argue.
