I agree about McLoughlin's limitations, but this is a key strength of Jones in my view, he is very confident on the ball under pressure which is why he received the ball from Allsop the majority of the time** last season. ** my strong sense, not backed up by stats.
You cant compare ipswich to his style Ipswich are coached so well, its a few years in the making They are able to conserve energy due to how in sync the players are with their press
I don’t think he will. For all his knocks Allsop is quite good on the ball. I think he would see that his decision making does fit in with how he plays. I do also think he would see how he commands the area and shot stopping and decide against it. But I see similarities in what Allsop is good at to what Walter would potentially look for.
Backs up the purchase of Ryan Giles then, he's exactly that kind of full back. Philogene, a bit less so.
You can compare as they are similar in style. What’s not to say that he couldn’t adapt to conserve energy
I really need to delve into him more as I only watched the Schalke game last night. I’m only also really willing to do it if we sign him up as well but in practice I think he’s able to do it
Jones looks comfortable enough on the ball but from what I saw in that Hamburg game, Walter likes both centre-backs to essentially do what Greaves is quite good at which is dropping the shoulder when pressed and then surging forward.
You can McKenna made an immediate, dramatic impact. It wasn't somehow built over "a few years". It's only his 2 and a half season anyway!!! Struggling in L1 to the PL.
yes it was built they are the best coached team in the championship, he didnt just turn up and that was it 90% of their squad was a regular for them last season too i think its niave to be using ipswich as an example without deeply looking into what they did right
Unless you’ve surveyed everyone on leaving, and then done that several times over the course of many games to get comparator figures then you don’t have any stats to prove the games were ‘boring and tedious’ FACT.
Another thing to consider is if we’re playing in a way that a lot of other teams haven’t encountered before they might struggle to counter it. Add in the fact that it’s already difficult due to all the rotations, movement, and chaos. Feeling strangely confident about this…
