He has been a coach I have followed closely since he started. He is on my doorstep and I have seen him often.

When you look at his achievements it is a hell of a career really. What he did for Burton was spectacular tbh. He went back and did it again as well. He had some rough luck at Derby but they stuck with him and he never produced a bad looking side. He was followed by McLaren who was very impressed by what he found. Now at Mansfield he is really working some magic. What he is doing with all aspects of the club is amazing to be honest. He is as hard working as they come, and always carries himself well.

When he fancies hanging up his first team coaching boots, he would be a brilliant fella to have around any academy. I could see someone like him as a coach mentor, to you coaches in the u18s and u20s trying to progress. He is just a hell of a good bloke.

Sadly I now speak fluent French but my Durham accent took a battering in the 15 years over there ...

... I cringe when people, at the matches, ask where I'm from and why I support Sunderland.

It hurts to be honest, something I was always proud of <wah>

Clough is respected at Mansfield but its taken ages to get anywhere ...

... being respected doesn't mean you're what we need.

Aye mate, which was exactly what I was trying to say to Aussie.

You have good knowledge of coaching, so what you have said above I respect.

When I've heard him speak 'post match' interviews, he is solid in what he says about match/player perfomances. Aye he conducts himself very well and he pulls no punches. A top top bloke. I love that in a coach/manager.

If he was offered a position at our club, imagine what he would offer in terms of his knowlede, and his man-managementship alone.

He would no doubt be an absolute asset......end of :emoticon-0148-yes:

I just think he would be a massive step-up for the kids at the Academy.....and then who knows.

I like him but he’s an absolute journeyman manager/ coach. If we appointed anyone with a remotely similar coaching record there would be uproar. Not dissimilar to Parkinson’s record, a few lower level promotions and a lot of very average. Even at academy level it would be uninspiring.

Nigel Clough, the manager whos team has had an average age of over 30 11 times this season and constantly has the oldest teams in his division, in the academy? Really? He actively dislikes youth.

I started on service desks in call centres and people just loved my accent, I learned that some people are intimidated by it as well so it gets thicker when I’m in the company of southerners :emoticon-0102-bigsm

the irony is I’m posh compared to my mams family from fence houses :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Speak to me and you would never guess I was from Peterlee.
I've spent all my adult life living in Germany (ex army) or in the south of England.
I would describe my accent as a neutral southern accent, which is why my family and friends in the NE think I am really posh.

No one who hails from Peterlee can ever be described as posh!! <laugh>

Tim Walter 1/2 favourite for the Hull job.

Interesting but very risky move if appointed. Some very interesting tactics including having the GK play very high while in possession. Certainly more attacking intent than Rosenior.

Has some serious deficiencies though. Failed to get Hamburg promoted 3 seasons running with an expensively assembled squad.

I'd be against appointing him here.

That's not cryptic either, he would have worked his stuff here, top bloke top manager.
Hecky is in for it, good luck to him

Will Stills name has never gone away, since he was linked following TM departure.

It has to be him surely?

No offence mate but this isnt true at all, the actively dislikes youth bit. There is a large element of needs must going on.

The youngest player in his squad with significant minutes is 23, and speaking from personal experience dealing with Mansfield players this season they do not appreciate the youth.

Of course as you say needs must but just speaking from my personal experience with him and Mansfield mate.

The odds on him quickly shortened because that John Percy at The Telegraph said he’s a target.

Tbf to John Percy, he is one of the reliable journalists. I’d say him and Michael Walker are the two most reliable UK ones.
