OK that's about the last 15 pages from the night shift I have caught up with. The one dream one family thing is from the top Acun, he was the one who has ultimately done and funded, the stadium improvements, free away travel, free food and drink, free scarfs and flags (even if they were orange) the trips to Turkey, going to the local pubs, letting supporters sit with him in the fancy seats and so much more. I am fairly sure those things won't stop because Rosie has gone. On the pitch we've been too inconsistent, one week like Barcelona next week a pub team. In the play off places at Christmas, plenty of quality added in Jan and the same inconsistent performances. It didn't mater if we were missing Seri or Delap we had good and bad games with and without both. Said way back pages ago to many round pegs in square holes, strange team selections and formations. Those things are down to the manager.
Absolutely not, the recruitment before Liam was very poor but a bit better under him. Wouldn't ever describe it as good
I wouldn’t mind this Tim Walter, looks entertaining and apparently one of his big philosophies is not sticking to a rigid formation.
You have been consistent in this sentiment tbf but others have been banging the drum about how much better Rosenior has made it. I agree with you though, but Acun is clearly capable of attracting the likes of Carvalho as I doubt Rosenior ever thought that was attainable
He looks box office, lost 2/3 of his last games as Hamburg manager 4-3 too, easy to see why Acun is a fan.
The performance on the last day of the season wasn’t good enough. There have been quite a few like it too. Imagine if West Brom had lost then I believe the reaction on here would be quite different. There’s no room for sentiment in football management. I doubt even Rosey was surprised by this decision. Has Rosey improved our position as a club. Sure he has and he got us 7th in the division when some of us including myself expected more like a mid table position. I wish him every success in the future but the owner clearly was not happy with what he saw. People seemed surprised when quoting Acuns family comments but I see a successful, extremely media savvy, probably ruthless businessman who knows what he wants and is prepared to risk things to get it. The next chapter beckons, let’s see what comes next.
It's too high risk & slapdash for me, I love a 'boring' signing. Leonard would've been perfect and I think Craig was fantastic for Donny too on Monday. A bit Slater-like with his terrier-like approach but has a lovely left foot and a nice playmaker. Young, but probably attainable for a cheap-ish fee from Spurs.
Wanting a Rohl/Cifuentes type seems short-sighted to me. Isn't that exactly what we had? Guy who comes in and improves a team in the bottom three, takes them to comfortable safely. We were a year ahead of those clubs so we've had the subsequent full season and further improvement that can come with that. Apart from not being foreign, I'm not sure what keeps LR from being in the same category. And if Acun was indeed at the PSG game last night he'll have been very confused to see them have loads of the ball but fail to score and lose. That only happens to us under Liam Rosenior surely? No one else has to put up with such outrageous results.
rohl to me is a complete different kettle of fish, schooled at a much higher level and had Wednesday 5th in the form table with that side is completely nuts, that said if he leaves them he goes bigger than us IMO
Story in the star today about his situation saying he's asked chansiri for 3 things....one being investment in training ground.....he's reportedly got another year.....not sure what'll happen, chansiri is allam levels of delusion by this point! All my weds supporting mates desperate for him to stay but worried he'll not get backing
It’s the way modern football is going unfortunately. It’s the best way to achieve consistency in performance but results just never seem to happen for teams that don’t have the best squads. They always lose their best players though.
Agreed, what he did with Sheff Wed was near on ridiculous, they didn't win a game until he joined i don't think and had something like 2 points. Would take him in a heartbeat, still not sure how he wasn't at least nominated for manager of the year.
