While I agree with the sentiment, Keiren is doing his typical thing of applying one year's set of accounts to the next year's football results and pretending that nothing changed in terms of our investment in the interim.
Who the **** do you think you are telling anyone on a public forum to go elsewhere? Your initial reaction was every bit as knee jerk as to person you were criticising for making a knee jerk decision. Whether it proves to be the case or not will depend on what comes next. Neither you or I know that yet. If you're so sensitive to criticism then maybe you should be looking at your own fragile ego. Arrogant prick.
But you put money in for cash flow reasons. If our regular revenue was £18m last year and we got £4m per year for 4 years for KLP, the revenue is £22m. He had to put £9m in to make that up so costs would be £31m. This year, we have the same £22m, plus the McVities deal + increased attendances + the Oscar loan fees + the first instalment of the Tetteh sale. So the actual costs would have to be pushing £50m. We can't spend that much because the Football League wouldn't let us under the business plan we've had to agree.
And I'll tell you to go and learn grammar. I know the definition of the word ta, and I also know that the context in which it was used, which was petty name calling.
He's accepting liability for losses. Cash flow will likely be commercially financed. Like I say, the KLP showed in last year's accounts, not 4m last year, 4m this etc... I suggest you start googling companies house as a starting point then we can have a conversation.
Burnsy trotted out the 'He's put in 24m' but I think that 1904 podcast becomes a bit of an echo chamber at times when no one corrects statements like that. Acun did not spend 24m last season. We had an operating loss of 21m which was then offset by KLP's sale. We had a 6m loss, so Acun is out of pocket 6m for last season. This season we may well be at a much higher figure, which begs the question if he can't afford to consistently spend that sort of money, why bring in short term players, sack your manager after 18 months, and blow it all up and start again? It's his money, but he can't exactly complain about spending it when it's off the back of his decisions..
Burnsy used the figure 500k a week which referred to last season's operating losses minus revenue recouped from the player sales. Baz used the figure 24m for this season, which potentially stacks up if you consider the likely operating losses with no significant player sales this year.
Great post. Just as Allsopp's ability to keep the ball out of the next was secondary to him passing the ball to the centre halves 70 times a shame.
Yeah as I said that figure could well be right for this season, but conveniently ignores the income we'll be pocketing when Greaves is sold, and any further income if Philogene goes. So Acun has options to sell if he's that desperate to get that money back (and then some). If it's a 24m loss as things stand for 23/24, and we sell Greaves even for 15-20m that's a very different picture.
Loans increased by £10,672,370 so a little more than the £9m I said. There are no charges on the company so it's probably from Acun.
Thing is, if we were looking to bring a Cooper or Potter in they play the exact same way. It's the modern way of football. So moaning about this philosophy is pretty pointless. The idea will be to get someone in who can attract a better calibre of player (although we got Carvalho with Rosenior in charge and we're not getting anyone better than him) to play the style in a more effective way.
Baz seems to suggest he knows who we want and that it’s not Steve Cooper. Probably the most interesting thing mentioned
That's the other thing, it's not cash out of Acun's pocket, it's increasing the debt that we as a club owe to him as a person. So this concept that Acun's writing cheques each month or whatever is a rather simplistic way of looking at things. Acun would be fine with accruing this debt with the idea that if/when we make it to the PL he either starts to pay it back with TV money or he sells the club at a huge multiple of the price he paid (what was it, 25m? We'd be worth 10 times that as a club if we got to a second PL season).
Also how much say does the Mcvities man have with this? He’s obviously putting some serious dosh in. Do they trust Liam with another spend of circa 25 million?
Yes, we probably lost about £10m in reality last year, judging by the loaned amount. And whilst the accounting loss might be a lot for this year, the actual money we're losing is probably going to be similar to this year and then for next year we could put in an accounting profit yet we could still be losing money (on the assumption we bank around £40m for Greaves and Philogene). Hopefully we'll get a tasty Bowen sell on too
Catching up on the 1904 podcast now, pretty interesting listen that Acun's been unhappy for a few months. Which if that's the case doesn't really help my feeling about this, because Acun's messages in public are so different to that. Why say 'oh it's a project, if we finish 8th this season then that's fine we weren't ready for promotion'? Why not say 'Yeah we're very excited about this season, we've invested a lot, so we have high expectations, play offs are a must'. That way when Rosenior goes the supporter base probably isn't as against it because we've been conditioned to expect it.
