I don't really get your point. Tan never signed enough wingers, we went into the last week of the summer window wanting 2 wingers and a forward, we got none. Therefore, Delap/Twine ended up on the wing. I can't imagine Lokilo was high on the list of priorities either Slater started playing at RB because Coyle was injured and the backup Tan signed is completely useless. Why do we have so many number 10s? But not wingers and it was the 2nd summer he did exactly the same. Why did we release all the grit in our midfield and replace it with nobody. Actually we gave Woods a 3 year deal on big money.
I have to say, for all the talk of things not working, I’ve enjoyed life under Acun so it’s kind of working for me. We’re not unique in switching managers often and tbf a year and half is a decent stint these days which of course is wild but the way it is. The other thing is LR or not, another rebuild was on the cards so in a way it couldn’t have been timed better if Acun had his doubts.
It's been said many times, he heads it up. We need to get systems in place to recruit better, we're not giving ourselves a chance.
I think most managers will be given suggestions and I don’t doubt for a second that if Liam said no thanks, the player wouldn’t be signed.
A package deal of Bruce Snr, Bruce jnr, Ian Ashbee along with Curtis Woodhouse to add some punch to our midfielders. Lots of Hull connections there.
I agree that if we are to change direction then now is definitely the time to be doing it, not mid season and to give the new guy a say in the rebuild. But I'll say again, if you don't have the budget to spend your way out of the championship then stability, foresight and future planning is going to be key in any longer term success, and now we're pretty much at square 1. Again.
He'll have had a veto perhaps. But then you can't veto everyone when putting a squad together on a budget.
Yes, let’s hope things have been considered and we start to build in a more sustainable manner. We do seem to be very active in the youth player market so that’s a good thing.
This is why its daft for owners to do the whole “one family” bit. Acun obviously wants success next season and for whatever reason Rosey doesn’t fit the bill and has been abruptly sacked. I need to remind myself that owners are in it for the business.
LRs philosophy summed up. In possession - play out from the back, draw opposition in to create space to exploit. Out of possession - expend all your energy running around like a blue arse fly trying to force the opposition into a mistake. So yes.... I can count on one hand when the "out of possession" tactic worked a treat. Southampton away being the classic. But to have that as your main offensive tactic when you have the attacking talents of Philogene, Zaroury, Carvalho is ridiculous. The moment Tufan didn't chase down every single ball, he knew he was getting dropped from the next game. So more often than not we had a lot of square pegs in round holes because those were the players prepared to expend more energy. Connolly, Sharp and Ohios ability to stick the ball in the back of the net was secondary to their ability to run the equivalent of a marathon each game, hence why they were left on the bench.
Literally nobody has said that. Only that it's unrealistic to demand a consistent level of performance way above your budget if you're going to be serious about promotion. Of course I understand that you're not going to grasp that if you can't differentiate between aspiration and expectation.
not thinking about how maybe that’s down to the gaffer who was given proven championship talent then persisted with the likes of Jacob… Not a coincidence that all these players came in with big reputations and looked average… maybe it’s down to the gaffer and the system they are forced to play…
Maybe they're just young players with a lot of experience still to gain in order to reach their undoubted potential? They hype around January didn't come from me. But Prutton made the point on the 1904 club that these players aren't necessarily proven beyond a decent year in already good teams at this level, and that our direct rivals had better, more proven squads overall.
Exactly Its fifa talk Carvalho barely played last 2 seasons Still only 21 And he looked great So didnt look average due to system Zaroury injured Giles was dissapointing but maybe its lack of fitness and slight injury Omur looked quality You cant just throw some players in and expect them to gel and instantly play like they know each other We had them 5 months
It's been missed but I really don't like Tan pulling out of the podcast last minute because of this. It seemed like the perfect time to front up and provide a detailed explanation that could've allayed fears and I think people would've understood more. But they clearly didn't fancy being on the end of a bit of criticism.
