I think it could potentially have happened even if we made the play-offs and didn’t go up. Feels like Acun is maybe showing he isn’t really going to be patient.
Or he just doesn't feel LR is the correct man for the job after seeing him for 1.5 ( approx ) seasons
I can see that, I can see the logic that 6th at Xmas then investment then 7th by the end isn't good enough, and I can understand the disparity between the home and away form being a concern, especially as the owner is present in the stadium at home and not away. I still think however, that signing 7/8 in Jan and expecting instant fruition is a bit naive on the part of the owner though. And bear in mind they were all young lads, who may be very talented technically but inherently won't have the consistency to their game that comes with experience. How often really do you see clubs chuck money at it in jan and it immediately gels straight away? And why couldn't the additional Jan investment have been spread over the season to give him the best chance of success over the season as a whole? Think it's very harsh, think the chairman has made a big call and is now under a lot of pressure to justify it.
The non-footballing decisions the owner has made have been fantastic, the footballing decisions he's made have been very poor. It's a strange conundrum
I agree with all of this. Whilst I have been a Rosenior defender (I've really enjoyed watching many games this season), I do understand that for some people - his play wasn't attacking enough. But I am concerned that we may have an owner who expects to chuck money at it and get quick results. That's not easy to do in this league and can be a path that takes us further down the table. It may end up being the correct decision, but it definitely puts the pressure on the new manager and players to get it right, quickly, next season.
The real sadness for me is the reality that we'll never have stability under Acun and that's the underlying factor in every club who's had sustained success as a club like ours.
Poor decision to employ an inexperienced LR was it? Poor decision to part ways with shota when It wasn't working? Poor decision to part ways with LR now if he doesn't feel he's the right man or they aren't seeing eye to eye? I think both his managerial appointments have been the wrong ones, but he's also not been shy in rectifying them. Hopefully we look back on this as being a great call at the right time
This is my concern. Without stability we could easily become a very expensive basket case like Stoke or Sunderland/Birmingham this year.
Amount of times I’ve said this to people around me. If Pedro Martins for example had dished up the ****e we’ve seen at times, they’d be much more understanding as to why today happened.
I do feel for Rosenior. It must be soul-crushing to go into work on Tuesday morning and be sacked from the club he has such a strong connection with immediate effect and little to no inkling it was going to happen. Maybe he knew there was pressure but I don’t think he expected it to happen today at all. I do genuinely think he’d be here for the start of next season. I think we all did. Even the ones who criticised him this season like myself fully expected him to still be manager at the start of the season. I for one had increased faith in him as manager after the improved performances before Plymouth. I think he earned another crack in the summer to get it right and if he was falling short by Christmas, he’d get the sack. Obviously, Acun wanted to act sooner.
How do you know we'll never have stability? The new appointment may take us to the prem and be with us 3/4yrs.... Who knows
It'll go one way or the other. Only time will tell. But I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Rosey at a club like Sunderland next year finishing above us if we don't get this next appointment spot on.
Think that would have been the case had this summer and upcoming season been a continuation of this previous. Theres going to be a significantly overhaul of the squad backed by, probable, serious £. Now isn’t the time to give someone till Christmas because he’s just about earned the right.
Regardless of the quality brought in, it would have been less naive for that investment to be put into permanent signings rather than loans as well. Realistically, what would we have done if we’d gone up and had to build a Premier League ready team from where we are now?
You’re probably right and that’s probably how Acun sees it as well. After Stoke, I was adamant he should go at the end of the season. The games against Cardiff, QPR, Cov, Ipswich etc. convinced me he should get another full summer to rebuild the squad and have another crack at it because we started to see entertaining, fluid attacking football by talented players who didn’t mind taking risks and being brave, even if it meant not having 65+ possession in our own half.
