Acun less than 6 months ago…

“Everything we talked about with him, (Liam Rosenior) everything we dreamed of, everything we planned has begun to happen
The Premier League is not the only target for a beautiful club like ours.
We don’t know if we’ll be happy with the Premier League, sometimes you get there by chance or luck and you’re not ready. You just get relegated straight away and it becomes a nightmare, which has already happened to this club.
We are to always think about being better and better. That can take you to top six, top eight or top 10 in this league. Top six would be very good for us and it’s a big possibility for us. We will see, if we’re there we will deserve it. If we don’t do it, we’re not ready for it.”

I’m also wary of Acun. I respect and admire what he’s done in getting more people in the stadium and he’s created a much more positive vibe but I’ll never fully trust a football club owner.

Well I can't say I like it when you've got the owner signing players who he wants and it was a car crash too.

It was said at the time but it was surprising when an inexperienced board hires an inexperienced manager and then throw in a lack of patience and it doesn't seem like a match made in heaven.

Acun isn't immune from criticism, I think he's a genuinely good guy but what is proven from clubs that have success at this level and push onto the level above is stability. Brentford and Brighton had it for a long time. Brentford could've easily sacked Thomas Frank when they failed to get promoted with Watkins, Benrahma and M'Buemo (I saw a fair few Brentford fans questioning him as that was a very good squad). He got them up the following year and has done very well since. Even Coventry who are significantly outperforming their wage bill, have loads of stability and they're heading for the PL.

Given how quickly Liam was sacked it looks like there was a clause in the contract which said that the contract could be terminated if he didnt achieve top 6.
You dont want to assume that contracts always have to be paid off in full.

Shows it has nothing to do with his 'Nan' ? That's fair enough but think it says it may be all down to profit?

I trust no one in those positions - you don't have to anyway.

But Acun has brought football back to the city. I like and respect him for that.

Ok this is pure speculation but since you brought it up, I will write it anyway:

I think his decision can be related to his disappointment last night, when Fenerbahce got a draw and kind of lost championship. Basically in last 2 weeks, two teams he heavily invested in fall out of season targets. In Turkey sentiment is clearly that Fenerbahce lost the race due to incompetent coaching of their no-name manager although they had a good squad and there is high pressure to bring in high profile manager like their previous manager Jorge Jesus. He might think he needs to bring in high profile manager for Hull city too to avoid same fortune.

But as I said, it is just speculation.

The prudent thing would be to wait and see what develops before you decide what's 'opening wide and getting **** shovelled in'.

No sense in denigrating something as a knee jerk and then being guilty of knee jerking yourself.

It's harsh, it's risky, it's not the decision I would have made - but I'm waiting to see what transpires before making judgment.

It's the definition of knee jerk no matter who comes in. You're coming off as a sycophant.

    Sorry, but that's ridiculous!
He failed to get the best out of some very talented players.
His inexperience showed time and again.
He chose Allsop (not a disaster, but not the answer). He brought in Connolly, twice, when every man & his dog knew it was a mistake. He, at the minimum, signed off on Sharp and Ohio for the 2nd half of this season. He thought we didn't need physicality or experience (bar a 38 y.o. as a friggin mentor to someone who plays a totally different game); stupidity, of course we need those attributes. He chose to play certain players out of position when not need. He thought playing boring, slow, cautious, overly coached possession football was the answer. Our home record was shocking, and it wasn't just the record, it was also the ****eness of too many performances.
That's just a quick response, many more examples if I had time ...

Get you with the name calling.

Spouting off without knowing the full picture as usual I see.

If the new appointment is underwhelming we'll see who's a sycophant. Not that it will change anything.

I'll back the new guy until there's a reason not to, same as I did with Rosenior.

Who did he fail to get the best out of? Carvalho had his best goal scoring season of his career. As did Tufan. As did Jaden. As did Delap. As did Connolly. As did Ohio. Coyle had a hugely improved season. Seri has improved. Greaves has improved.

I think comparisons with Barmby to Bruce are a little wide of the mark.

Barmby was a decent enough manager - but didn’t in truth change a lot and whilst we had a sniff at the playoffs - it felt as though we hadn’t gone majorly forward at the time.

Rosenior has changed the style of play and taken us from relegation to play offs. He’s done a bigger job than Barmby.

That’s not me saying the next manager might not be better. This could well prove to be the right decision.

But it does mean it’s harder to justify than Barmby.

    Really
I assume you take the same approach to the manager that fans shouldn't question
