It's a shame that Murty (probably) didn't want the gig and Dodds did. Bit of a sliding doors moment for us. What was a loss for the first team was a gain for the U21s, mind.
While I agree in the short term, in the long term I think the club will be better off with the u21s being left with Murty. Doesn't forgive allowing the first team to fall off a cliff like it did but I think it will end up being a positive.
Just watched the extended highlights, our left back really stands out hope we have a proper look at him in pre season given our injury issues there, looks great going forward, anyone watched him regularly?
Looks another good prospect, think we risk losing a few if they aren’t making squads in the next 6-12 months?
Bainbridge is excellent. Needs to either be loaned to L1/2 or be involved in the first team next season.
Will our released/retained list affect this? Presuming we release it soon we will probably be releasing the likes of Taylor, can they continue to play in this?
Tough game. West Ham finished 2nd and 8 points ahead of us. Scored more and conceded less than we did too.
Not to teams in the PL, not many of this u21 team will make it as us - thats normal tbh Most will end up having careers in the lower leagues, bainbridge n watson are the 2 that stand out when i watch as players that could play championship football Kelly is a quality player at u21 level but i just dont think he will make it at championship level. I could see him playing really well at L1/L2 level, similar to hawkes and molyneux
Getting on abit now isn’t he Kelly? To be playing 23s I mean haha he is obviously by no means old, probably time he was seeking a first team move, were well stocked with wingers and 10s so don’t see him sticking around here
