So you're blaming Acun for not getting to the play offs at least... thats the way it seems... and all this technical improvement, could it not come from playing with better players, players who have been there done that who give guidance, calmness making certain players look better.. as for the wage bill, the number crunchers will tell you we're high in that league.,This love in for Rosenior has to stop. He failed, he got fired. Back Acun or back off as far as im concerned.
If you put a Turk, Greek and British in a room about Cyprus, believe me British one will get the worst treatment. I am talking about general population, there are extremists everywhere. If you talk to a Grey Wolf, he would say the same but to be honest this kind of people never met a Turk or Greek in their life. Although I am a EU citizen now, I came from parts close to Greek islands, when I was younger we would visit islands and Greeks would visit Turkish lands without an issue and it was very common until Schengen zone. These days even Panathinaikos BC and FC both led by legendary Turkish managers (Terim and Ataman), and till last year Turkish league hosted most of Greek football players in Europe, you should remember Pelkas came from Fenerbahce to Hull.
Not true. McKenna. First half season. Arrested the free fall. Won seven of first 10 games in charge, keeping 7 clean sheets. Went 11 matches unbeaten (club record). First full season. Promotion. Second full season. Promotion. .... whilst playing exciting attacking football.
Because he has 2.5 years left on a contract which will require paying off unless the club were to be approached regarding his services.
Sacking Barmby and later getting Bruce was one of the best decisions Allam made, even though sacking Barmby was hugely unpopular at the time and the initial reactions and mood were very similar to the reactions we’re seeing now about this news.
Not sure if it’s just me but none of the names mentioned fill me with any great excitement. Jessie Marsch is the only one that I think could work.
It's also very true though. We haven't really got much say in the matter, nor much choice to provide our support - at least until there's a reason not to. It's not a democracy.
Surprised? Yes. Deserved? No. Am I relieved? Yes. I feel for Liam Rosenior. But I had a lot of doubt that he’d take us up with his style of football. I think a big factor in the decision is that we were sat in 6th not long after Christmas and have dropped. We had a chance to push on and go for it in games, play that attacking football Acun (and lots of us) wanted. It hardly happened. I hope we get a replacement who knows the league though.
You're right no supporter base has ever protested an owners decision and stopped it happening or got it reversed. We should all just open wide and let the **** get shovelled in.
Frank Lampard’s Hull City anyone?… But seriously, the most disappointing thing about this for me is that from day 1 it’s been very clear that LR was a long term project as a manager, with a very clear philosophy of playing out from the back. Nobody can argue that he wasn’t true to that strategy. He has delivered above most people’s expectations on here from pre season. His style of football must have been discussed when he took over, he has stuck with it and the only issue for me is consistency in the execution of that style of play, looks great when it’s done well, looks bad when it doesn’t. Next year was surely about more consistency on the pitch, which would have blown away most teams and given us a shot at the autos. I cannot believe that Arun would have expected play offs as a minimum this season. If he hires LR, he should stick with the plan. Remember this isn’t the first time he’s sacked the manager when things are improving, and last time he replaced McCann with Shota, so don’t expect that there’s some grand master stroke looming. We saw the same with Adam Pearson. A good communicator and ran the off field stuff brilliantly, but not so great at hiring managers. I’m worried that this will turn out for the worse next season. Even if we get cooper, remember he’s never got a team up by the autos, got into play offs 3 times and failed twice, so not the guaranteed success that some may be thinking. Just wish LR all the best and hope he finds a club with the same vision as him, and a bit of patience.
Oozkan, do you think Acun has lost face in Turkey due his dream team - Hull City not getting into the play-offs? Is the sacking of Liam by Acun to show to the Turkish people that he is the boss or is this a classic knee-jerk reaction to not getting into the play-offs? I am trying to understand the Acun's mentality and reasons for the decision, Or is just Acun sense of theatre and showmanship - like a big plot twist in one of his TV shows?
We stumbled when Seri went to AFCON and Delap and Jaden were injured for chunks. And yet despite that we still recovered and took it to the final day. It's almost like a bit more squad depth and development as a group and we could have made it.
