How do you know LR wasn't well aware of the ramifications if he didn't make the top 6? Presumably there could have been a performance related break clause in that contract too.
Wasn't it reported that some players, including some of the loanees were frustrated with LRs playing style, which miraculously changed shortly after the reported "come to Jesus" with Tan?
Goodbye, thanks for doing your best, you weren't good enough, right decision, as I’ve said all season
I am, I wanted us promoted under LR, but as HT2 has pointed out this season, he’ll be a cracking manager in five years time. Just for us he’s been a bit limited and with impatient owners, it’s not a good combo.
Others have already said it but I am both absolutely gob smacked and absolutely ****ing gutted in equal measures. This doesn't feel right at all to my mind. We were on to a good thing and building a really solid position from which to push on from. Bringing in new managers every 18 months or so is just **** IMHO.
I just hope Acun knows what he’s doing. I don’t want us to become like Watford. I have mixed feelings because I like Rosenior and genuinely thought he’d be our manager next season due to a recent improvement in performances so this is quite a shock. However, I was still unconvinced of giving him another summer transfer window given the rebuild. From what I hear from my mate, Rosenior was very popular with the likes of Greaves. What little chance of Greaves staying, however unlikely, is probably gone now. This is could be like a Barmby > Bruce situation. There was uproar when Barmby left as well. Or it could all go to ****
If he wasn't an ex player with links to the city I don't think most would be that bothered. I like him as a person, seems a really decent bloke. But I've always taken sentiment out of it and wanted a better, more experienced manager. It seems Acun isn't as soft as we thought..
I don't really give a **** who we get at the moment. I think anyone who thinks you can just appoint a particular manager, proven or otherwise, and it guarantees improvement then they're incredibly naiive. Man U and Chelsea have been doing that for years, they can get whoever they want, and it never turns out well. The clubs who are successful build year on year, they don't constantly sack managers and start over.
Rosie and Greaves (and Jacob for that matter) were close because of Rosie doing coaching here when he was still a player. I don’t think this decision will have a say in Greaves going, it could equally be possible that a big name manager could come in with plans and Greaves could think “yeah I’ll stay”. What it will alter is who is leaving. I think a few more names might go on ze list.
Emre Belözoğlu? ****ing hope not. Whatever anyone’s opinions on Rosenior as a coach, sacking a young, black manager for a repeat offender racist is horrific optics and PR.
Because I listen to every interview he gives, and from those it's clear he had absolutely no idea his job was at risk. He was talking after Plymouth about doing fans forums over the summer.
