He was brilliant that first season. But Madrid don’t sell players in their prime and there’s a reason they were more than happy moving casemiro and varane on despite fact they were keeping kroos and Modric who are 4/5 years older. They obviously saw he was on the decline and were more than happy to take the 70m.
