6 from me, could’ve done a whole lot better given where we sat at Xmas, but we didn’t. The mags game ****ed us well and truly both on and off the pitch and we’ve never really got it back. My personal take on it is the fans turned massively at that point, and that didn’t help a load of young players who haven’t got the maturity to block it out. Ownership has to do better if we’re going to be anything more than a mid table championship club, can’t criticise them for putting money in and keeping us afloat, but if their ambitions are the top division then they’ve got to do more.
Five. And its only that high because we started so well. Think back to beating Blackburn away, 3 wins in a row and playing really well. A few games under Tony we absolutely dominated but either lost or drew. They took the decision to replace him and they may as well have wrapped the season in then. Beale was a horrid appointment, the fans called it almost to a man how it'd go. Then finally realising the mistake to give the first team coach the rest of the games. I feel theres an arrogance around the recruitment that seems to think we dont need experience or we can get away without a proper centre forward. This season has shown up both of those points. In truth at times if it wasnt for bad luck we'd have had none. Some inpsired GKs, numerous post and bar strikes and the amount of times we've suffered a deflection or conceded a screamer has seemed disproportionate. The xG says we're considerably better than where we finished, but we need a goalscorer and some experience in the ranks. No more arrogance in recruitment I hope.
i went 5. nowt great but nowt disatrous. simple as this, if they had addressed the issues noted by most supporters it would have been (imho) a decent if not a good season, the lads can still play a bit we just saw it rarely compared to last season, the main striker being the obvious 'missing link' followed by a solid and experienced CDM. there did seem to be a lot of chopping and changing the main match day team, while there were plenty of injuries many just looked like a 'might as well try it' with only one striker getting any sort of run then injured as he appeared to be getting to grips with it all... never mind though, we have the regular few weeks of bullsh1t rumours, not good enoughs, airport/seaham look outs and lads getting slagged off for trying to post a bit of news they have heard.
Best not read the Will Still thread on RTG then. People saying other people are racist for saying he has ginger hair and offering to meet up for a fight about it.
Been pondering this a while. For me I am only voting on this season. It is a 4. The drop off from last season to this has been stark. I admit the league has been tougher, but nevertheless. I think it has been a catalogue of mistakes. Two poor transfer windows. Mistake sacking Mowbray. Mistake appointing Beale. Mistake appointing Dodds and letting the season drift. We are now, in my opinion, a much less attractive club for new players and loanees than we would have been had we not made 3 mistakes with coaches. It has the look of naievety to me. I was going to vote 3 but the emergence of Rigg boosts it to a 4. He is a shining light. I think he will stay here and that is at least something to loom forward to.
remember, it has not really begun as yet, they like to slowly work themselves up by carefully choosing allies before going full hog.
2 - we didn’t get relegated Being honest, it’s been horrendous. Awful transfer windows. The appointment of Beale, the less said about that one, the better. I agreed with sacking Mowbray at the time, but looking back they didn’t have a clear plan in place. One to forget.
It's been full of inconsistent decisions, lots of bad choices BUT we always follow the lads. BUT, after the way the season has gone, I've decided only Boro away and neee mare. Every home game, buying my ticket tomorrow no more guest tickets. Let's crack on you reds.
