This season is also something like our 9th highest league finish ever. Is that good enough with the squad we had?

What a bizarre comment, What the hell have other seasons positions and this season's squad got to do with each other?

 

We're about to lose our best players though? Greaves is almost certainly gone, Carvalho won't be back, Delap might come back but I think it's a long shot, Morton's gone, Philogene might go for the right price.

It's not all doom and gloom, but there's a big job on this summer, much like, I imagine, all those other clubs that finished 7th had.

 

I was responding to a comment that asked whether finishing with 12 points more than last season was good enough with squad, which is comparing seasons. If you can compare seasons one way, you can compare them another.

This season is in our top 10 all time highest finishes, including the time in the Prem. A bit of context shows it’s not exactly the disaster some on here seem to be saying it is.

Fair enough, when you put it like that, I don't think it is. Ask the question a different way, is 12pts more a good return for the money spent on this squad compared to last season's

 

How much more did we spend?

Looking at it with a clear mind and good year next year with hopefully a promotion push with an even better squad is going to be a lot better than getting your arse kicked in the prem every week. If we go up I want us to have a chance to stay up and not be the goals for difference for clubs at the end of the season.

 

It will be interesting to see, but I'd at least have the sense to apply the law of diminishing returns also.

We always end up light in numbers of quality and bodies, so who knows.

I agree with some of that ....likely to be left with 4 players you name good enough for a serious promotion push (and a v young keeper we have no idea about).
