Yeh it was always FC who took P&O money, and they need all the help they can get.

I don’t really know because I don’t follow British Bulldogs, or whatever it is, but I assume EffCee were with P&O before P&O sacked nearly 800 British workers, many of them from Hull, by Zoom and with immediate effect FFS, and rehired some and hired others on ****ty contracts that pay less than minimum wage…literally breaking UK law.
To save money…despite their parent company making so much money the year before it could pay its shareholders £270m and still have plenty left over.

So I think this one is on Rovers…and I hope their fans feel ashamed

    That’s because you’re a decent person.

As many Rovers fans seem to be.

I’m amazed the club have done it tbh

    I agree.

But then at the same time, I'd happily go on the P&O crossing again because it's such a brilliant thing to have available to us in Hull. It'd be a huge shame if it ended like the Zebrugge one did. So is it hypocritical of me to expect local businesses not to partner with them?

    Tricky one ethically.

Isn't it P&O cruises that are the scumbags responsible for the fire and rehire of staff.

P&O ferries is a completely different company that just happens to have a shared provenance.

Money talks and P&O are paying the money that Rovers need, unfortunately rugby league isn’t in a place to apply morals to their commercial deals.

Any Rovers fan that’s outraged remember that your club, along with all the other Super League clubs have been happily pocketing Betfred’s money for years, which for me is far less ethical than P&O’s business practices.

They’re two completely different companies with different owners, but both pretty much did the same thing with regard to the hiring and firing.

If everybody stopped using companies that are unethical, then nobody would do anything.

It’s a bit subjective of course.
Things I might find unethical, you might not and vice versa.
However the way our economics work is exactly the opposite of what you say in the long term at least.
If everyone did stop using a company that everyone found unethical (theoretically, although I know that’s never going to happen) then that company would fold and another ethical company would fill the gap.
That’s how free market economics works.
There would be a gap possible were people didn’t do anything, in the unlikely event there isn’t an already ethical company delivering those services, but even in that case the gap would be quickly filled, or the original company would be forced to act ethically.

Yeah, like about 3/4s of the clubs in the premier league...What's good for them is good for everyone else..If City had UAE money I'd be ecstatic.

Could be worse, could have been a betting company (or vaping or ...).

-> "unfortunately SPORT isn’t in a place to apply morals to their commercial deals." (corrected!).

If they’d sacked local people in the way that P&O did then I’d want them to **** off out of our club.

I hated it when we had a betting sponsor on the shirt , obviously I didn't stop supporting the club or going to games
(I didn't buy or wear the shirt though)
