Ross Stewart confirmed will be on bench tomorrow, and RM wants him to get some minutes too, before he's injured again I would guess.
Me and my eldest will be on the couch for this one in our respective kits. Actually not much at stake for either of us but still a fun last game of the season for us.
I don't see anything wrong in what he's saying, he's just pointing out that progress has been made with the unity in the squad. He's not being arrogant, just stating a fact. It seems right now he can't say anything right, maybe it'll be like that unless we get promoted.
Think he’s right. Arrived to a completely dispirited team and ended up 4th.. We may be disappointed we didn’t get autos, but we probably didn’t see the team on day 1 as he did. May be would have tempered our disappointment somewhat. However, I’m still desperate to see us promoted. Love the Championship, but financially we’ll be in a mess. Don’t want the downward slide we had last time we were here…lovely Markus Leihberrs are rare.
He did also say this though; I would have loved to finished in the top two and I'll be eternally frustrated that we haven't, but we have an opportunity to get to the Premier League and do it playing our way.
Funny how this match was being billed as the auto's decider a few months back. I've read Saints fans winding up the Leeds fans by saying we will have secured an auto spot by then and them doing something similar in return. I bet they didn't think that neither team would make the top two. (As long as Ipswich don't blow it.) I image that Leeds fans will take failing to get promotion quite badly given their cocksure attitude most of the time.
I mentioned a couple of months back about sending a new part time neighbour a message on Facebook about the promotion race and he, being a Leeds supporter who expected automatic promotion, sent a message back wishing Saints luck in the playoffs. I wonder if he still means that?
It's a bit late in the day to change from a possession style team to something else though when the players have been coached and played that way all season.
I agree. If it had been successful and led to automatic promotion it would be understandable to keep saying it. People may say actually getting into the playoffs validates his approach but the fact we've been found out so many times says it's despite our style not because of it.
There certainly isn't any need for comments like this ... so why did you make it? On the other hand, there goes Russel telling the truth again
“If nothing else works, a total pig-headed unwillingness to look facts in the face will see us through.”
Or play how we did against Preston when we didn’t play the ball back to McCarthy and as a result were quicker to get the ball forward and dominate.
