So we have tried to sign experienced strikers? So this idea that Speakman will only sign youngsters is a myth. The fee that you refer to, i.e. the cost being too high, is one of the factors that we're all saying could prevent us from signing such players.
You make that sound like we walked away just because there was a fee but is it not because the fee was seen as too much/overpriced? Out of interest who was it that Ipswhich just paid the price for? Have they been proved right? We all agreed at the time and up until February that the club had done the right thing not paying the 3m or whatever is was for Simms. He hits form from January onwards and by about March some were using him as a "look what we could have if we didn't want just cheap or free players".
