This is a good thread from a young Fleetwood Town fan and football enthusiast ... ( If for whatever reason you can't follow it, I can copy and paste it. )
I remember going to that match. I was in the loft behind the left side of the goal and have never felt so squashed in my life I really found it hard to breath. Looking back it was very dangerous as most of that match my feet didn't touch the terraces. That was our official home record attendance 35,500 approximately. You could probably add another 5,000 to that as I have never seen so many people climbing over the walls around the ground, mainly Leeds supporters.
- 12 wins as QPR boss - 1.4 P/G - 11 clean sheets - Unbeaten against the current top 3. He’s an amazing gaffer and deserves to be up there with manager of the season!
Wowzers! He’s got a lot of time on his hands. I didn’t understand a word of it. I thought we passed it about a bit and occasionally it went in.
Did you get out in time? I remember the idiots among our fans who got on to the pitch to confront the Leeds fans while the police were trying to prevent them getting onto the pitch. Always easy to goad the opposition when you believe the police will be able to protect you. Eventually the dam broke and this wave of Leeds fans rushed on to storm the Loft. I have never seen it clear as fast as it did that day.
I always thought that our home record attendance was the following season, again against Leeds. Last game of the season and we won 2-0. I was crushed into the Loft that day.
I was a bit too young for the 74 match, started going with my dad in 75/76. I was at that Man City game, scummy bastards were all over R Block that day, and everywhere else in the stadium I think.
I know it's almost a week ago but it's still hugely enjoyable looking at the highlights..... Regarding the record attendance, from memory 1974 was the last season where the paddocks was terracing, seats were put in for the following season..... also Jim Gregory refused to allow the TV cameras in as he thought that it would affect the attendance....
I was there for that as well and I agree it did feel the same as the previous year but as Trammers said the seating had been I stalled and they probably were more aware from the previous year.
I think you've both missed a season. 73/4 last game Rangers 0-1 Leeds,74/5 1st game Rangers 1-1 Leeds, 75/6 last game Rangers 2-0 Leeds, Warnock season, last game (already champions) Rangers 1-2 Leeds. I was there for all of those but missed the best of all last Friday last home game of the season RANGERS 4-0 LEEDS. Just as enjoyable as it gave me bragging rights up here in God's own county. Add to that the false dawn of the 3-0 opening day triumph under Hasselbaink and you'd be a brave man not to predict Leeds as the opening fixture at HQ in August.
You'll be pleased to know he used it on the Open All Rs podcast this week... https://open.spotify.com/episode/76CHxZPDydMUacyYvz7Cg5?si=zqdSnS62SzqMrPzq5KHnng And credited it to The Thich Of It. Must've read your complaint
