Dont know what it would be, but let’s say it’s about £10m over the year, that’s only two Waghorn-level transfer fees.
Just watched the TownTV Town in 5 vid, very emotional and great to see Kieran pause, reflect and take it all in in front of the away fans. What a cool guy!
Our previous owner said we were following the Leicester model, a couple of seasons down the line both relegated Anyway, morning you lot, who's excited and who's a bag of nerves
IF it was guaranteed, would you prefer to win on Saturday and go up second, or beat Norwich in the playoffs. It the latter, beat them over two legs home and away or in the final For me, a win in the final would be preferred but offer me auto's tomorrow and I would snap your hand off. I also think the extra weeks preparing for the PL and knowing what division you will be in next season is vital on a return to the top flight.
I think somebody’s in the “bargaining” stage of the grief cycle Joking aside, if it’s guaranteed we win the play offs - I’d take beating Norwich home and away and winning at Wembley. We’re one of several teams in the top four divisions not to have even played a game at “New Wembley”. However, life doesn’t work that way - so I’ll take three points on Saturday and celebrate out in Ipswich!
I would defy any Town fan not to be a bag of nerves for Saturday and yes excited as well! I know its an often worn cliche but this game is just absolutely huge not just for the club but for Ipswich and Suffolk as a whole! If we pull this off then it will be the most remarkable achievement I would argue of the modern era where big finance rules! A team put together costing a packet of crisps and a pint of lager being promoted ahead of Rolls Royce teams costing Millions and subsidised on parachute money. It will be the fairytale to end all fairytales.
As you say Nuggets, life doesn’t work like that so it was a bit of a silly question. The realistic one is - the certainty of getting one point on Saturday or the lottery of the playoffs?Absolutely no doubt on that one!
I really don't want the play offs. I'm completely exhausted from all the travelling, nail biting and overwhelming emotion and looking forward to having May at home watching the rest of the season and the Euros unfold from the comfort of my living room.
How this team has managed to keep it so cool - Farke and Leeds have not managed to keep cool heads and that's the only reason they are not ahead of us - is beyond me.
We have a remarkable team & Club spirit and togetherness, as witnessed so often after games. Also, while individually we probably dont have as much skill or talent as others we do posses a great mental toughness & resilience. We also have the best manager in this league.
I don't get why people are so fixated on saying it's the club spirit and togetherness that's got us promoted...let's not forget we are the top scorers in the division . We are 2nd because we have a good team, with decent players, with no prima donnas
Leicester have not got out of second gear and had Leeds carried on their performances to the end of the season they would be going up with Leicester. We don't have the best players. We have the best mentality, spirit and work harder. Janoi Donacien takes a lot of credit. In those dark days of Lambert and Cook and in the early games of the McKenna tenure he worked his socks off and helped to set us on this path.
I don't reckon Blackburn are where they are because they are all poor players and I reckon that Luke Hyam would have had a very different career had he come through the academy 15 years later. Andre Dozzell was never going to be a player though. The difference in how Coventry were not drilled defensively compared to us was a very stark contrast. We gave them no space in which to work, they gave us acres of it.
So who will score the winning goal? Nice if Jackson gets it, or Donacien.Loyal servants and they will probably get their prem promotion bonus and waved goodbye. But most likely Chappers, Hirst or Hutch. If as some predict we are 3 ahead with 10 mins to go, it wont surprise me if Walton is brought on to rapturous applause.
Dom Ball is probably the only player I would show the exit door. I would like to see both Aluko and Donacien stay on involved at the club as back up and coaches. Jackson will stay I think, unless he gets offered another gig from another club in the Championship that promises him more first team football. McKenna will not mess around on Saturday unless we are 4-0 up in injury time.
The culture and mentality McKenna has harnessed is second to none. These guys rarely seem to crumble under pressure. They are so focused yet also enjoy the moment and its all about the next game. There's so much to learn about leadership and culture about this team in every day life. We certainly don't have as talented a squad as Leeds and Leicester but we do have some real talent. Great recruitment over the past 3 years and development of culture mean we've been able to compete with more talented squads.
It does very much remind me of the team under Burley good footballers who may not have had the best careers pulled together play good football and all have a bit of character...can play the fancy stuff but not going to roll over
