I have been surprised by how well Ipswich have done this season, as I wasn’t overly impressed with them at SMS, but their never give up spirit has been remarkable.
Who was that ancient Chinese scholar who said: Hard work beats talent When talent doesn’t work hard ?
They are the spunkiest team I’ve ever seen. M Even last night their goals were lucky and Coventry had some chances cleared off the line that basically bounded off the defender without him knowing about it. I think it’s just their season and there’s nothing anyone can do. Could probably field their youth team and still win due to some deflected goal at the weekend
Yep so lucky, to date lost 6 games out of 45 played and took 6 points off Southampton, but while other teams have more skillful players ours keep going to the end win lose or draw perhaps that explains the 9 point difference between the two clubs.
You know what, if someone said that about us back in 2012 I would be livid and insulted. I thought they would fall away when we caught them back in January. They proved me wrong. They have had some fortune but they've earned it. Having done what they're on the verge of doing in back to back promotions back in 2012, I have nothing but respect for them. The only potential issue they have is someone poaching their manager because I think he's incredible.
Nah, we won most games 3-1. Battered most teams because we had PL quality in the side already. I think Leeds away (super Kelv) was one of the only games we won undeservedly. Ipswich have mostly championship quality and just have the luck of the Irish every game for some reason. I’ve watched about 10 games of theirs this season, and every time they’ve got lucky. Hull, Coventry, us, and a few others all easily should have won except for some random deflected goals or lucky shots that roll in. Crazy luck
Millwall away, won 3-2 thanks to a pen for handball which actually came off Hooiveld's arm. Leeds away where on another day we'd have lost 5-1. I'm sure there are other times where we rode our luck but those two stand out.
There’s no such thing as luck that wins a league. You have to make that yourself. We might not like it but they’ve been relentless and deservedly getting promoted.
Technically there are 10 teams whose fate isn't decided with regards to top two, top six, and bottom three. And yet my prediction is that, in about three hours time, the two teams in the automatic places, the four teams in the play-off places, and the three teams in the relegation zone will be the same nine teams as it currently is. If I'm wrong though, and there is to be any material change, then it most likely relies on Birmingham to beat Norwich. Because with one very unlikely exception, any other result at St Andrews would lead to Norwich securing their top six spot and Birmingham getting relegated (that one exception being a draw, but with Plymouth losing by at least 5 goals). Hence any last day drama, at either end of the table, is heavily dependent on Birmingham winning. *It is possible that Hull might go out to try and put as many past Plymouth as possible, just in case it comes down to GD between them and Norwich. But even so, a Plymouth defeat by 5 or more goals is still unlikely.
Buzzing for them… but they’re a bit ****ing boring aren’t they When we went up all the players were on the beers and swearing on BBC. These boys have barely cracked a smile
Well, I'm glad it's Ipswich. Can relate to their journey too and they're run properly. Well done to them.
