It's tragic what's happened to that club, their fans are some of the most loyal, diehard supporters on the planet (not to mention a great stadium sponsored by a fantastic beer). If they are relegated, it's very likely they'll be denied entry to the 3. Bundesliga and have to join the Regionalliga Division. For any older fans that remember German football back then, some other clubs from the big time back then who now play in that division include Carl Zeiss Jena and Lokomotive Leipzig (they were VfB Leipzig at the time).
I rate Schallenberg at Schalke. Good player. Could’ve gone to Bundesliga clubs last summer but decided to go to a second division club because he’s a Schalke fan.
Oh that doesn't surprise me in the slightest. Even the players are loyal. It's sad because when I think of Schalke, I think of the likes of Kevin Kuranyi, Gerald Asamoah, Benedickt Howedes and Klaas-Jan Huntelaar. They just seemed to let their best talent leave on a free. Leon Goretzka, for example.
I remember years ago I did a career mode on FIFA with them. Maybe FIFA 11? Not entirely sure. Anyway, it was when Huntelaar, Neuer and Farfán were there. Won the Bundesliga with them. It is sad how they’ve fallen.
Energie cottbus were a bundesliga team when we first went to the prem Theyre now in the east regional league
One of my all time great Tigers....He's had a tremendous career...No doubt he'll play say National League for a season or two, or even for the likes of Bromley or Solihull Moors depending on who makes it to the EFL, then a career in coaching, management or media...Or all three. Good luck to him.
