I don't think it does stem from his behaviour though. The twitter account defending him was a little odd but its unlikely that that would have come about if people hadn't behaved so negatively towards him. Treat people badly and they'll respond badly. Rangers fans' opinions shouldn't have held any sway over us. If someone feels they're not wanted, they'll act defensively.
Can you imagine how Beale felt, being attacked by fans who know knack all about football management because he had a different accent and a spot on his face. He’ll of been thinking what a set of Neanderthals support Sunderland.
He was being attacked because he wasn't doing his job well and being a complete arse about it on top. I'd bet he didn't really feel anything about it - serial bluffers tend to have very thick skin.
Those same Rangers fans warned us about Flo and they were right to. I give football fans respect on merit, just lumping them together smacks of condisention , and bad judjement very Rees-Moggian. imo
Chelsea fans wouldn't have given that assessment of Flo though. He was a good player, although not a prolific goalscorer. It was assumed that he was good in the air because of his height but that wasn't really his game. He was better running at defenders. Reid signed him to replace Quinn and used him the same way, which didn't work.
That's not entirely true. The negative comments about him started on here 4 days before he was officially appointed. If the criticism was simply to do with how he was performing as manager, attacking him for his accent and his appearance and photoshopping him onto pictures if Hitler, for example, was unnecessarily personal.
The Rangers critique of Flo was that he disappeared when things got tough ,hardly what we needed at the time, but what do they know eh, dumbo's.
Spot on. He didnt grasp it so fair criticism but some predicted doom, made it deliberately hard and were glad when it happened but can’t admit it.
Our fans would say that Will Grigg is useless, but Wigan fans would give a different assessment and Chesterfield fans seem happy with him.
