    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...g-squad-in-order-to-meet-FFP-regulations.html

Basically to meet financial fair play regulatios they need to cut down on the wage bill so they could (according to the telegraph anyway) sell as many as 20 players from the squad. Now I don't think it would ever happen on that scale but would anyone take any realistic players from the listhere (including those on loan)? Talk of Europe on another thread has (even though I'm trying to fight it) got me overly optimistic so I'm just mulling over players we could get to strengthen our squad.

    I don't know much about some of the players there but I would definitely consider the likes of;
    Michael Johnson
Nedum Onuha (I don't care if he played for the mackems, so did Danny Simpson and Given)
    Alex Nimely
    Vladimir Weiss
    Dedryck Boyata
    Adam Johnson (I can dream!)

I'm Onuha or Boyata could maybe break the first team as right backs, and it's worth noting they can both play centre back too, which we need cover for.

Weiss could be very useful on the wings, because our only real experienced winger outside of the first team is Marveaux and he's injury prone, and he's looked quite decent when I've watched him. Though that was in the SPL.

Nimely and Johnson could be usedful in a substitute role/'easy' european games (agh, I'm mentioning it again!), I've not seen a lot of them but heard decent things and I'd like to think they'd like to come to a club where they will get first team opportunities rather than being at City, I suppose either has its advantages.

And, yeah, Adam Johnson doesn't need an explanation.

Apologies for the long thread, I've been out all day and missed the clash of the Uniteds so haven't really got much to say on that... Howay the lads.

I don't think Adam Johnson would be too unrealistic if Man City were looking to cut the wage bill. He is a geordie lad as well!

Yeah Adam Johnson just signed, so he either won't leave or will be too expensive anyway. Shame, he's my favourite PL player outside of NUFC. Wouldn't take the other Johnson though, maybe Onuha for defensive backup.

I'll take Weiss who'll offer competition and cover for both wings, Boyata who can cover RB/CB/LB and Onuha who is the same as Boyata but a bit older and more experienced. <ok>

In order of preferance and what we currently need..

    1) Onuha - Defensive cover/competition for Simpson/Saylor/Colo/etc.
    2) Boyata - Same as above but less experienced and IMO the current inferior player although he has good potential.
    3) Weiss - Wing cover/competiton for Obertan/Guti/Marvo/etc.

The rest are either not good enough or simply unrealistic (Tevez/Adam Johnson/Adebayor/etc).

Onouha would be a fantastic signing.
Not so sure about Weiss. I seem to remember a lot of Rangers fans being less than positive about him when he was on loan there a couple of years ago.

They can try and get rid of 20 players but I wonder how many of them are going to want to take a pay cut, I'm sure a few would rather just sit and pick up £100k a week for doing nothing at City.

I don't think Boyata would be included in the list of players to be sold. Nor Adam Johnson (who as others have pointed out has just signed a new deal). The more prominent players would be Wayne Bridge, Nedum Onouha, Adebayor, Roque Santa Cruz, Michael Johnson, and of course Carlos Tevez. Out of those players, only Onouha should really appeal to you guys. The others are either too expensive (both wages and transfer fee) or not good enough.

Not sure about Weiss to be honest. I just don't think he's going to be good enough to cut it at the highest level.

Weiss, Onuoha and Johnson. If City a looking to clear the wage bill they'll probably be looking to shift high earners, which I don't think any of these are. If they're available I'd take them.

I'm not sure players would always see it like that, and players like Danny Simpson have left better clubs for the same reason and not had a problem.

Weiss would be canny tbh, done alright for Rangers last season (i think was last season).

Not keen on Michael Johnson, he's always injured and I've heard he was happy just being paid to recover from his injury, took his recovery lightly and didn't really bother trying to get fit. Stay far away imo.

Wiess was pretty good when Bolton when we loaned him for half a season.

Looked as good as Wilshere at the time, maybe a little less good with the end product, but still a pretty good player.
