I do not want Arsenal to win the league. To see them celebrate will be intolerable. I agree Man City shouldn’t be in as position to win either due to all their charges levied against them. i would rather see ManCity win the league. Then FA strips them later on of all their titles and Cups!
You're not alone CK I agree with you entirely. If Arsenal win the league or Liverpool they will have done it by skill at their jobs at all levels. City have simply bought their success and I never want to see them win anything until they clean up their act. We are talking the state of the game of football at the highest level. If you would prefer City to win to prevent Arsenal winning then as they say you need to give your head a wobble.
I get what you’re saying and if it was any other club than them Chelsea or West Ham, then I’d be the same. If they win the league or not, it doesn’t change their financial doping though. Let them win their tainted titles I say.
Agreed but sadly we both know that will never happen. Just last week UEFA signed a huge sponsorship deal with the Gulf States. They'll kick the 'little' clubs with FFP to make a show that they're doing something, but it'll be the equivalent of that one low level clerk going to prison out of hundreds of bankers who swindled the American housing market out billions of dollars in the build up to the crash in 2007. Nothing will be done.
Its Rock and a hard place for me though, I am a Spurs fan from Kent with Gillingham sympathies (I actually have a season ticket at the Gills), I was at Wembley when City won the league 1 play off final on pens so I hate them too.
It's the same reason I hate Chelsea more than Arsenal. The latter never really went beyond playground bragging rights. It's amazing when we beat them and it sucks when we lose, but ultimately it's the child in me getting elated or upset. Chelsea ruined what was left of the sport. Simple as that. The hatred therefore runs much deeper.
That's the point though. I care about my club. So if I see a team appoint a manager with zero PL experience, bring through young players, give him time to develop them and back him in the market to upgrade the team over time, and that team wins the league, my simplest of simple brains says: QED we can do that too. In fact it is exactly what we tried to do under Poch but fell down on the last point and didn't properly back him in the market. We have a chance to fix that now under Ange. The alternative is seeing a team win a record 4 on the trot through cheating and concluding that the only chance I have of seeing the team I care about win the league is if they are taken over by blood money and/or openly cheat. And at that point, I won't care about them anymore so won't see them lift the title.
I’d argue that once they’ve won one it’s easier to win more and you’ve got another stronger contender there. More able to attract bigger players. Liverpool may fall away for a bit but if Arsenal win it you’d expect them to kick on if anything.
As for today; While I get the disappointment there are some huge over reactions. This season no one thought we'd have been challenging for the top 4. Most of us thought we'd be be lucky to be in the top 10. We'd lost Kane, got a relatively unknown manager untried in the Premier league and had a completely unbalanced squad, an unknown keeper and had come off the back off our worst season in 15 years playing turgid football. Ange has made mistakes (Fulham in the league cup and some of his team selections) but has had to address the loss of our only world class player, clear out some players, get some new ones in, rebuild the bond between fans and the team, get us back into Europe and get us playing better football. He has replaced kanes goals (we've only failed to score twice this season), he has cleared out some players (Winks, lloris, sanchez, Dier, all permanently and several like Ndombele, Reguilon, Spence on loan. So that was decent. It's not his fault we still have Richarlison, Ndombele, Skipp, Gill, Royal, lo Celso, messenger, Rodon etc. imho. Transfers in have been good in the main. Werner ain't good in the prem but was only a loan and we ain't seen enough of Dragasin. We simply have too few quality players s9 out of form or slightly injured players can't be benched. So transfer wise I'd say it's 7/10. Style of play is a bit up and down since Xmas but still better than last season....over the whole season I'd give him 7/10. He has improved the bond between the team and the fans and given me a way better season than I could hope for...so with everything I'd give ange 7.5/10 this season.
It's banter some of my closest friends were/are Arsenal supporters. Part of the fun of supporting Spurs is 'hating' Arsenal and vice versa but in the real word I have enjoyed watching many of their players. I don't want them to beat Spurs of course. City however is a different matter this is real and damaging to the game as a whole,
