Who do we play instead of bad boy Jonas?

  1. Naughty Naughty Spiderman. Oh well.

Who are we going to play on the left then with Marveaux out?

    Sammy? Raylor? Santon? Ben Arfa?

    I'd personally play this -

    ----------------------Ba---------------------------

    -------------------------Ben Arfa-------------------

    Raylor-----Tiote------------Cabaye-----------Obertan

    Santon-----Colo------------Saylor-------------Simpson

    ---------------------Krul------------------------------

We need to start Santon sooner or later, and we need to let him learn his position for us. Raylor can sit in front of him and help out in defense. Raylor and Santon can work together in attack and in defense as they both possess quality in both areas of the pitch. Colo can be next to Santon to support him.

I don't want Benny starting on the wing, he's looked great in the center. Almost scoring and setting one up vs City, and winning us the penalty with a good run. It wasn't a pen really, but nevertheless his great run ended up in a pen.

    Anyone else agree?

Looks decent, either that or start Sammy and hopes he gives a performance like that against Man city.

I think that playing Simpson left mid with Obertan at left back is a slightly dubious choice to be honest. Interesting use of Ben Arfa as a sweeper as well <whistle>

I think Pardew will definitely give Sammy a start.

He had enough faith in him to start him away to Man City so don't see why he wouldn't do the same at home to Chelski.

Extremely harsh on Guthrie. He was fantastic again today and doesn't deserve being dropped at all. So unless Guthrie is still feeling the effects of the past few games then I wouldn't drop him.

<laugh> Krul getting a start upfront. Harper will be ever so jealous.

  8. Well I thought Cabaye was good today. Guthrie outshone him for a few games, but when Cabaye isn't playing we miss him. We lack vision and creativity. Guthrie can pass the ball well, and can deliver quite well but not on the same level as Cabaye.

Tiote has probably been fit to play recently, but probably just carrying a small knock or he may not have been quite 100% recently, so I don't think Pardew wanted to risk him. I think he wanted everyone fit and strong to face Chelsea, where a win is certainly looking achievable.

Harsh on Guthrie I know, but unless Tiote is out again, I'd start Cabaye and Tiote CM.

Guthrie will get his time when Tiote is off for the ACON.

    Unless Tiote's sold of course...
Either way, he gets games. <ok>

I reckon we should give Perchie a run out on the left, we'll beat chelsea easily anyways so it would be nice to give mr versatile a start after his mint sub appearances. I've always had faith in that Perch lad!

    Krul
    Simmo - Saylor - Colo - Santon
    Obertan - Cabaye - Tiote - Sammy
    Ben Arfa
    Ba

Left Raylor out as I'm not sure how he'd cope without the support of Jonas. I think Sammy deserves a start. He showed against Man City that he is capable of starting in big matches. I think if Tiote's 100% then he should start, but if there's any risk then I'd be quite content with Guthrie.

Sammy to start. Personally I would not change the defence. I know Santon is a quality player but the reason we are defending so well is we have had the same defence in every league game - why change something that is working?
