Sunderland are there for the taking, if he picks his strongest side and puts some youngsters on the bench with the tiny bit of luck we have sadly been missing in recent games he might be able to achieve both
A load of players from Udinese you mean !?. Least everyone knows where we are now and can concentrate on next season . Popular for now obviously but we all know how fickle everyone in football can be . Good luck to Tom. - hopefully he will be given time and a decent squad to work with . Hopefully the Pozzos just haven’t done it because fans demanded they did after some good performances and will actually back Tom with time and recruitment . The powers that be actually believe Clev can be a success .
The official club site, reporting that Tom has been appointed, says that others will be announced to work alongside him. Jimmy Gilligan who has been with him during this interim spell is experienced, taught people how to coach, and holds a full pro licence. I hope he gets appointed in some first team role as well.
I see we are getting the usual gags about managers not lasting long at Watford. Well our opponents on Saturday have had 3 this season themselves...
Went with one of my pals (the one who came to the PNE match with his lad the other week) to that game as he lives in the area and we were in corporate! Had an argument with some chimp when the first goal went in: my comment of "it's not 1985 anymore, mate" was lost on him but not those around me (sadly we have regressed since)... I saw him at the bar at half time ordering 8x large JD+Cokes for him and his 3 pals which explained it. He apologised in the Players Lounge after. Anyway, I met Adlene Guedioura later as he was leaving the stadium on his own. Had a good ten minute chat, posed for photos, begged him to sign up permanently - which he did, bless he tried so hard not to give it away that it was a done deal already! Great fun in the concourse - brilliant dj with a great mix of rock, pop, ska, punk, indie. Harveys Sussex Bitter too! An absolute joy. Great day, finished with a curry in Lewes and the last bus back to the ranch. One of the best awaydays ever, in my top three along with the Fulham promotion party and the 4-3 win at Posh = 1-0 win at Oxford Utd to help stave off relegation.
Probably going to affect attendances surely ? https://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/s...e-games-live-sky-next-season/#comments-anchor
I remember the ITV deal showing non PL games. It collapsed because no one was watching it, so no advertisers. Just why did football games start at 3.00pm on a Saturday? I guess many people would work on a Saturday morning, so it gave them time to have a meal then go to a match. Fans who could travel to away games also found it was useful to have the travelling time to get to the game and home at a reasonable hour. Seeing as Sky do not have a licence to broadcast to France, more who wish to watch from here will get Sky boxes and cards, or rely on streaming
Yes the cost was more than the revenue they got in eventually. Obviously Sky will be ok but not sure people will watch every game as a neutral.
Good to hear that he has been involved in recruitment - positive words suggest that he put his foot down, or maybe management offered that as an inducement to sign?
