Yes, Jones seemed well off it tonight. Not sure if he wasn’t 100% or it was down to the quality of the opposition but it wasn’t just defensively, his distribution was poor as well.
I agree. He’s certainly got the technique for it. It seemed like our tactic defending corners was to have every man in our box. Rosenior probably knew they’re a big team and a threat from corners so prioritised bodies in the box but it meant we had nobody picking up Ipswich players lurking outside the box.
So proud of the team tonight. We have a patchy home record and we don’t usually perform well on live TV. We were magnificent tonight. A great team effort.
He looked nervy on the ball from minute 1. So did Jacob. For Jacob, you could put it down to inexperience but Jones has a lot of games at this level so the occasion probably got to him. He looked very unsure of himself.
Hones distribution is very very limited and slow - he has several chances a game for a cross field ball but never looks up , if he learnt this he’d be a much better player
If only there were a few more games left. Despite the annoying goals conceded, I loved watching that tonight. Seems we're finally clicking going forward. Nice to be going down to Plymouth with something still to play for and hopefully be another cracking game with something on the line for both sides. Anything can happen but if not so be it. We can go into the summer with heads held high and genuine confidence and hope for next season.
Credit to Allsop btw. Didn’t seem like he could do much for the goals watching it live from where I was sitting, more down to poor defending, and he made some crucial saves.
That started with Morton and his air kick, allowed the ball to the penalty spot almost but jones wasn’t alert to it.
Amazing what happens with two out-and-out strikers up top. Ipswich really struggled with us going forward. We had a few defensive lapses unfortunately but otherwise it was up there with the West Brom performance. Allsop had some solid saves second half. Shame we conceded the same 'goal' twice - no urgency to close him down.
Thought Jacob grew into it though and played with less fear the longer it progressed - that experience will stand him in good stead. Jones looked over hyped from minute 1 and didn't really settle on the night IMHO. But we know he's a solid player at this level.
West brom probably can say the same about some of their games Im so happy we got 70+ points Next season is the season if we fall just short here
