You would expect us to do well though. We dropped down a league and are giants in this division.

I don’t see us becoming more ready to compete in the PL next season. Especially with SR recruitment, they’ve spent loads on poor purchases and have only made us weaker.

I don’t understand this at all tbh. The last time we dropped out of the PL, a lot of us did expect us to be giants in the Championship, but we got a rude awakening then, which is pretty hard to forget.

Was expecting something similar this season tbh, so the season overall has been a pleasant surprise.

I don’t know the stats but what % of promoted clubs are those just relegated from the PL? I would guess it’s pretty high.

Most on here expected us to be competing for the automatic spots, hence the disappointment.

I was expecting it to be a really bad season until we brought in THB, Downes and Fraser. Once we had those players plus Alcaraz I started to get my hopes up. I even thought that tella may stay at one point and I started to get my hopes up for a cracking season.

But Since the start of the season the club has basically destroyed any hope of promotion by making us worse over the course of the season.

Overall now it’s just been a massive shambles just like the whole time SR have been here. They are absolutely awful at recruitment and running a football club

    Very much so

Also of the 45 league games played this season so far, today’s probably ranks at number 45 in importance

Fair enough. No idea what most on here expected tbh, it’s hard to cut through the emotions and get to what people really think.

I expected us to struggle, which is probably why I have already got over the disappointment of not finishing Top 2. I said all along I’d be delighted with the playoffs, though it’s a shame we’re going into them in such poor recent form.

I didn't expect to experience hammerings anymore, or not at least until our third season in the Championship, but two 5-0 hammerings are like the Premier League but a bit worse because the division is not as good and it's not ManUre or the Greatest Team in the Universe in Red that are hammering us.

Oh and I see our Hampshire cricketers are having another poor day. Just peachy. Do we have a hockey team to follow?

But to a certain extent, 30584 people did turn up and that was better than some thought it might be earlier in the week. It’s just the manner as to how we lost of the last 3 games, especially this one, that sent people home feeling very disappointed. The go home early crowd around me started at HT!! That’s nuts to be sure and until the last whistle along with the 6 people left in my row I was hoping for at least a draw. Ironically Stuart Armstrong was 3 rows behind me in block 12. I’d love to have heard his comments!!

I had no expectations for this season. When we were relegated we were a broken team with a very fragile mindset.
I still didn’t know what to expect after a reasonable start followed by losing four on the spin.
But then the unbeaten run started and despite going unbeaten for so many games, we still exhibited a weakness, a frailty with regards to turning draws into wins and wins into draws, which indicated that the ghosts of the relegation season had still not been fully exorcised.
Once the unbeaten run was over we showed our weakness, with more regularity by not holding on to the maximum points but doubled down by putting in some dreadful performances to match, which takes us into the playoffs with no momentum.
Overall we have had an excellent season, IMO, but we just haven’t been good enough to get automatic promotion, which is a shame because unless we win the playoffs, it will likely be harder to get out of this division when we lose our few players that have Premier League quality.
With Wilcox gone and RM having been his managerial choice, I hope the board look at the goals against stats and question whether or not RM should remain in control.
Our football has been Jekyll and Hyde, sometimes brilliant, sometimes meh, often boring and sometimes poor but I have enjoyed it a lot more than the football I have watched us play for several years and for that I thank RM, but I hope we start next season without him.

Not quite 10-0 then. Norwich or West brom will be very different tempo no doubt when we roll out the big guns.

Am I imagining that Brooks performances have nose dived ever since Wales failed to qualify for the Euros? Another lacklustre performance from him today. Most of our players today were ****e, so I’m not singling him out. I’m just bringing up Brooks because with his failure to stake a claim in the Stu role today, and Rothwell against Leicester, where do we go from here? I’m assuming (hoping) our level will be much improved in the play offs, helped by bringing the likes of Downes and Che back into the team. But what do we do about the big Stu shaped hole?
