Not bashing you over the head with absolutely anything Syd. I quoted what you said and I've not taken it beyond what it means as it means..... Agreeing to disagree means coming to an understanding with someone you disagree with. When you agree to disagree, you accept that neither of you is going to change the other's mind. That's when you stop arguing and move on. Honestly Syd you make it so ****ing hard to actually converse with you. Does it not bother you that you make it so difficult for such a high number of people on here to want to talk and interact with you. It's a shame because you do post some good stuff but you just can't help for the vast majority of the time comes across as an absolute bellend
Yeah I've had absolutely no one say similar of you. Stones in glass houses and all that. I said we'd have to agree to disagree but you carried on arguing your point so why can't I continue arguing mine? Agreeing to disagree doesn't mean "I'll be quiet now and let you keep repeating your wrong opinion"
The average house price in his constituency is approx £650k. Add to that everything else and £100k won't go far in his constituency which is what he said.
That’s the real problem here Chazz. Stupid bastards like Hunt with no real grasp on reality. That idiot on question time this week was embarrassing. Although on the plus side how good does Fiona Bruce look at 60.
Just ignore him, honestly it's the best way to go...... unfortunately he's just like a scab though, you can't help but itch it sometimes
This thread is called the cost of living. Food, amongst other things, have increased over 25% since COVID. We are discussing the difficult increases in the cost of living and you're suggesting poor people should stop eating at McDonalds and instead buy food from Asda as if that would solve things. You were disagreeing with my notion that people's priorities in terms of spending has nothing to do with the issues around increasing costs.
Many businesses are doing well - stock markets on or near highs. House prices near highs as well. But hard to know how much is being funded by debt - loans and credit. But most ppl don't run their household like a business. It's the same as the US, the traditional managerial middle class is being hollowed out - it's now those that have and those that don't - the trade worker in a van can be wealthier than the indebted office manager. It's going to get worse now the generational property transfer is starting to begin. Liveable salaries are hard to compare as ca. 50% of costs now are related to housing... Someone on 50k a year in Hull, is going to have much more disposable income than someone on 80k in London. I have a family member who is on a six figure salary, with a family in new York, and in terrible financial shape, after childcare costs, housing and local taxes are paid. Its not so much difficult times, more difficult times for those not in a good situation .
Some people are actually able to have a calm, rational conversation without resorting to name calling. It's called being a grown up.
Very well summarised. The divergence between the classes is becoming starker and starker. Property is becoming a class divide.
Tesco net profit was 2.71% not really want to defend them but the turnover is huge but the profit is tiny.
Wrong opinion’ - Wow. So if someone has a different opinion to you then they are wrong? The whole point of a forum is for people to share different opinions surely. I am stunned.
Yes, from my perspective the opinion is wrong, which is why I make the comment within the speech marks as it denotes my perspective. Hope that helps.
You could cook a meal for 4 cheaper than what 4 meals from McDonalds would cost. So it is a matter of priorities.
Tesco’s profits are exactly what they should be for their income, if not slightly low. British Gas were forced to sell gas for less than it was costing, due to the government putting a cap on what they could charge. Now the wholesale gas price has dropped, they’ve been allowed a year to claw back those losses, it’s a one-off. None of those things are a con, they’re just businesses doing what businesses do, the numbers are just big because they’re the biggest businesses in the country.
