I won't judge, positive or negative until I see his teams in action. Unless he signs Balotelli, in which case, I will judge negatively.
I think (maybe hope) difference is ferguson ran that club from top to bottom and when he left it was an aging squad and the structure of the club just wasn’t there. Moyes came in and didn’t have the support around him to succeed We are a much better run club in terms of having experts in each field which should take some pressure off slot and allow him to focus on the task at hand. However he has huge shoes to fill and he needs to ensure he’s more klopp than hodgson and win the fans over early doors with the way he speaks/acts and style on the pitch.
He doesn't need to be like klopp. He needs to talk the right gsme yes. Any utterance of defeatist talk or anything less than winning will get fans backs up. But he needs to be more ange then ten haag too. Most of all if he drops 10mil on a feynorrd player there will be massive stench of ten haag off him. That's one mistake he cannot afford
I think they gave up on Moyes too soon. He inherited a squad that was aging. SAF wouldn't have won that year either. If they had stuck with Moyes a few years they would have won titles.
Dutch seem to rate Slot really highly. Van Basten is a big fan. They think of him like a Dutch version of Klopp, both in style and his career path (from player to coach). Feyenoord fans are apparently gutted, they wanted to keep him for at least another year (knowing he'd move on at some point)
Can’t see it happening for reasons that pointed out in that our structure and set up are far superior to United. United didn’t have any upper management putting plans in place (just trying to do that now with hiring do the city bloke, ashworth from Newcastle and Wilcox from saints). edwards and hughes won’t let him just come in and spunk a load of money in Dutch players. We’ll have a group of players scouted already that fit in with current model (it’s why slot was favoured compared to Amorim because of style and formation used).
I hope it doesn't. The first thing klopp did when he arrived was insist we get matip. He had to put up with a bad set up that loaned in caulker. We have to maintain and improve the set up above slot thsts 100% true. However there has to be differences in approach tactically and also the natural level of change that is required as well. I'd expect quite a bit of change again this summer bit just exactly what is anyone's guess. The natural.cyle.should be moving some on
True but at the same time this is a team that won the LC, to QF (should be semi) of FA cup & EL and was in a title challenge for 34 /38 games. It doesn’t need completely ripping up from the ground.
No you'd hope not but it also depends on players and agents agitating. Matip is gone. Tsimikas should be gone. Kelleher wants to go. Endo isn't good enough. Salah might well be gone. Diaz seems to have a very active agent really talking up a move. You'd hope alisson and vvd want to stay and that players like trent and robertson amd macallister get a good summer and look a lot better. Szoboszlai has a lot to do because he seems to have absolutely zero thought to preserving himself at all and looks absolutely awful for the past 2 months. If this guy is really a 4231 type of coach then the 1 is obvious but the 3 is not. Hopefully we have some ideas already but they have to be ambitious transfer plans and really target quality. Salah going for 100mil would help there. I really don't see salah in a 4231.
Ali Taa Quansah Vvd Robbo Mac Szobo Diaz Elliott Nunez Jota Think depends who goes and what style new manager plays though so hard to say really. Does give players like, Carvahlo, Morton a chance to stake their claim
What ever happens, at least we can all rejoice in the fact we don’t have Erik ‘delusional’ ten Haag in change! United one of the most dynamic and entertaining teams in the prem… said with no irony! And he wasn’t even talking about them being entertaining by being as **** as us defensively.
Szoboszlai can't play 6. He's not really a cm at all He's coming from playing rw at his prior club and lately left side forward behind a front man for Hungary. I do not see any positional security any time klopp puts him back there. I'd see him being pushed on to one of the wider slots possibly. Its really hard to know until they make a couple signings that really point towards what might be in mind. It's entirely possible trent is moved to rcm rather than 6 and told to run about more? Really depends on 4231 v 433. Szobo could be the rw honestly.
Because he's only had one job where it was possibly an option and he inherited a squad needing updating. I think Moyes is actually a pretty decent manager. A complete and utter twat, but a decent manager. He never would have been Fergie 2.0 but I suspect he would have won some silver if given more time.
