Not sure if Leeds losing helps us tomorrow. You’d imagine it spurs Ipswich on even more, but pressure can do wonderful things. Our awful display at Barnsley under Bruce comes to mind
absolutely zero difference ipswich need to win, they want automatic it does mean we can beat them and not have leeds closer to autos though hype
Gives Ipswich two chances to overtake Leeds and tonight will give them a lift, however more importantly first we have to see how Norwich and West Brom go on. Hopefully we will get the chance to take Ipswich on still in with a chance.
The QPR v Leeds result really does show that anything can happen yet. No way anyone would have predicted a QPR win, let alone such a thumping.
**** me. Roles reversed. I think we'll miss out but post a points total that would get you in more often than not. Hope I'm wrong. Would love to see Allsop save the pen that knocks TWS out at Bellend Rd.
When I looked at the table and Ipswich's task of getting 5 points from 9 it immediately reminded me of our last few games in that Bruce promotion season. Once we were almost there we had something like four games where we just needed two wins to seal it, but we kept falling short, suddenly it seemed really easy to only get a draw and the prospect of us not making it seemed very real, and if we're honest, it was very close in the end. I think it's not easy psychologically when your task is laid out clearly in front of you like this. Hopefully it affects Ipswich tomorrow but they recover to win their final two.
Regarding the ref tomorrow. We as fans should remember our anger at those decisions in the Norwich game and give him hell tomorrow, pile the pressure on him, call for everything and moan like **** if we don't get it. We have a role to play and it does make a difference. He'll have that game in the back of his mind I'm sure, and if we're all over him it might just tip the balance to us getting a 50/50 decision. No point being mad at him but then staying quiet about it at the game. He got away with it in that Norwich game, we moaned afterwards but didn't make enough of a fuss at the time. I'm convinced they'd have got a red if it was at one of the grounds where the home fans are rabid at every decision. Like with Morton's red at Sheff Wednesday.
Interesting result the Leeds one, just goes to show if you go into a game with a bit of pressure and maybe going in with a mindset protecting your position, how things can change. Both Norwich and West Brom are in a similar position, though on the negative side, Ipswich will feel they now have a chance to get into the top 2. Nothing changes for us, it is win or bust more or less. INTRIGUING.
Would love to see Allsop take his time, faffing around with the goal kick in the last few seconds, before it then somehow drifts all the way over Meslier and in. Would be spectacular.
Or when we went to Ipswich at a similar time in the season during our first promotion to the PL. If we'd have won and Stoke lost ( I think) we'd have gone up automatically. We bottled it and lost 2-0.
We will win our last two and finish 6th WBA will lose the next two and miss out, Ipswich will get promoted pushing leeds to 3rd, Norwich finish 5th. We beat a dejected Leeds over 2 legs, Norwich beat Southampton for a City v Norwich Playoff final
