How long do we all think Poch has at Chavtown? He might make the end of the season, but with their track record I think he might be gone if they lose this weekend. The place is toxic - and he was a mug to take the job in the first place.
I’m not saying he was wrong to move and get first team football elsewhere in a lesser league. I’m saying (I’ll repeat myself again) that it wasn’t a clanger by the club to let him go at the time. I’ve already said why I mentioned him and only him from the Chelsea game (see above points)
He’s not the issue there. Obviously they’ve not been good enough this season for what they’re spent but I don’t think any manager would have got them into the top 4 this season. The squad needs time and they’re still 3-4 short of a quality 11. Also with so many clubs needing a manager this summer, Chelsea won’t have options of upgrading him.
It absolutely was a clanger by the club that he would want to leave to play first team football, as that underlines the club's failure to develop players in-house - and much of that failure directly falls on Poch's stance of keeping players at the club to train at the point where their development needed first team football, be it for the club or out on loan Ultimately a club's academy exists to make players who are an asset, either on the pitch or on the balance sheet - and Poch's approach failed on both accounts, as numerous players left the club for nothing when we could have either made some decent money (or at the very least had some potentially good sell-on fees potentially ripening) while in terms of the first team he only really brought through Winks and Skipp - though he also fumbled Walker-Peters, Carter Vickers and Onomah
I wonder if what we are seeing is an NUFC who have not played for 10 days and a hot Palace who played 4 days ago. Palace have some seriously good forwards, some of their play was very good to watch. This is why I worry about our game on Sunday because we won't have kicked a ball in earnest for 14 days. We could get battered.
In Newcastle's case it's more likely due to how they’ve blown hot and cold even after their injuries started clearing up, just by looking at their results since the start of February Draw with Luton (after being 4-1 up) A week later beat Forest A week later draw with Bournemouth A week later gubbed by Arsenal Three days later draw with Blackburn (winning on penalties) Four days later beat Wolves handily Nine days later lose to Chelsea Five days later meekly dumped out the cup by the Mansourites Two weeks later beat West Scam (after being 3-1 down) Three days later draw with Everton Four days later beat Fulham One week later...moving on Eleven days later limply lose to Palace Even if you take into account the possibility of Glasner's tactics clicking with Palace in recent weeks, as they've now won three league matches on the spin having started the month having won only two this year, Newcastle's Jekyll & Hyde form in general does have to be taken into account That and the fates are determined to make us wish we signed Adam Wharton in January...
There are some people whose general behaviour and manner makes it absolutely clear that the more serious allegations that may exist against them are almost certainly true. This is the behaviour and manner of a man, if he can be called that, who punches women. It's very simple.
To add: if that had been Spurs and one of our players pulled that scummy celebration after throwing away a 3-0 lead and avoiding defeat by a shoe size, I'd want that player out the club the next morning.
And those forwards are more than welcome here… I’d happily dump our whole budget on Eze and Olise even if it meant not getting a DM. They also have what seems to be a seriously good manager though, was only two years ago Glasner won the Europa League.
Oh I ****ing know that. I had the likes of Pinkie and Ginge willing to vote for me years ago on the Prem board to be mod before Tobes got the gig… how many Spurs fans would have goons and chavs backing them? Brb robbed me .
His choice of clubs since leaving Spurs have certainly beggared belief and made me seriously question either his judgement or his opinion of himself (I think it's a bit of both tbh). I think they'll sack him and at that point, he needs to consider his next move very very carefully or he risks being left behind by the game. Ajax and Napoli should be high up his list tbh.
Potter is beginning to look nailed on for Ajax. If Poch gets canned, which I think is looking inevitable, then I think he takes a year or so off.
