Sadly, I understand that Ash's knee problems have returned and his playing career is almost certainly coming to an end, he may last to the end of his current contract, but it's unlikely he'll look for another deal.

It's amazing that he managed to continue playing after the injury problems he's had and it will be a sad day when he hangs up his boots.

Legend and amazing that he fought against injury like he did. I wish him all the best. In my near 30 years of watching city he's without a doubt my favourite ever player.

A return to City, in any capacity, is likely to be cocked up by the fact that he's still knocking about with our favourite pikey ****er.

A pikey ****er who's just been formally warned about his conduct by his new employers, having got himself into a bit of bother in an Ipswich night club.

I wish Ashbee all the best, the fact he's managed to come back from 2 serious knee injuries and still play is amazing. A legend at this club and when he does retire he can look back on a successful career.

Not doing his case (not that he really has one) any favours then?

It's a tragedy what has happened with Ash. He should universally be considered our number 1 legend but some unwise off the pitch decisions have soured things somewhat.

I'd still father his children though.

See he started on the bench today. Came on when Ipswich were 2 - 1 up.
Reading scored 2 in injury time to make it 3-2. So it didn't only happen to us.

I do hope he's given a testimonial. For me, he's been just as an important player to us throughout his career as Deano. Hull City Legend, full stop.

For me Ian Ashbee completely represents what we achieved in the last 10 years from the bottom tier to the Premiership and to not recognise his role in that is something the Club should not be happy about.

HE DESERVES FORMAL RECOGNITION and that should take the form of a testimonial so that all the fans can show their appreciation.

None of that should have anything to do with his association with Bullard.

I think the sun shines out of Adam and Pappas proverbial posteriors but I'm disappointed nobody has taken steps on this front.

    ASHBEE'S GONNA GET YOU!

AP still holds Ash in high regard, I think once the Bullard **** is out the way, he'll get his testimonial.

here here. i wonder if he may call it a day sooner as it cannot be much fun @ PNE these days ? lost at bury saturday and another loss @ hartlepool tuesday may see the end of the reign of Tango Man. Maybe Ashe can take over ? lol

on the Football League show it said that the PNE owner is ploughing in £750,000 a month. Crazy and on what ? lol

For that Reason alone I dont want Ash back and i am one of his biggest fans. IMO, Ash should have kicked the fooook out of Bullard after Barmby. Shame it had to end the way i did for Ash but he made his choice and now has to live with it. Ash should know better. Very disapointed in him.

But Ashbee will always be another City legend for what he did Prior to Bullard joining the club.

I think Ash's house in this area now belongs to his ex-wife.

Does anyone actually know what happened between Ash and Jimmy? I remember reading that something had gone on a couple of years back, but I can't seem to remember exactly what.
