Woods has done a fair few interviews in which he mentions Exeter’s style of play suiting him. Something which he feels he hasn’t had for several years. Seems like he and city are on the same page about his future.
You ever listened to his interview with Undr The Cosh guys? He was wrecked lol. Absolutely love that podcast.
Oh, did you miss the posts where I was critical of Woods and said he’s a pointless signing or did you intentionally cherry-pick the one post where I said he was an alright player (even in that post I said he shouldn’t start ahead of our other midfielders)?
I just stumbled across that one pretty much straight away and thought it was quite funny, I looked no further.
Thought I'd brighten your day. Simon Walton is still without a club having left Havant and Waterlooville two years ago.
cashins been talked about before but i agree, think he'd be a top quality and should be the left defender priority but would he swap derby for city? derby will be champ next season and looking at derbys squad, i think theyll massively struggle next season without a big rebuild
He recently signed a new deal until 2027 and Derby will be promoted back to the Championship, yes. When Greaves leaves this summer, which I think he will now, we definitely need to sign a like-for-like replacement. A young, talented centre-half who is comfortable playing out. Cashin and Edwards fit this profile. I think it would take £5 million at least for Derby to consider offers in the summer, given he signed a new contract and they will be in the same league as us.
I think we'll work on the idea of getting 20-25 mil of incoming from transfers (+ some saved wages and nominal fees). Hopefully Oscar, Philogene and a few fringe players make that sum. I say Philogene as out of him and Greaves I think Philogene will want the PL quicker, I also think although any signing can be hit and miss attackers are a more acceptable gamble. We've also shown through Bowen, KLP, Philogene come develop at City and you'll get your big move. Although I would imagine Burnley's league status may play a part we might go after Zaroury and then maybe Willock and someone like Rak-Sakyi on loan as replacements. I actually think the Giles signing may be beneficial here too - personally think he's looked better when he's come on further up the left. With CB being so pivotal to our way of playing I think we'll keep hold of Greaves unless we struggle to do all the other business we want. I would be looking for his replacement this summer either way and letting Macca move on and be first choice somewhere else. I would go after Ronnie Edwards if we have the budget, can play either side and would round the squad out well. Sell him the idea of breaking in to the team here, play 2 years in a possession based team, get promoted and get the move to a top half PL club. Easy this transfer business.
Unfortunately there's almost no chance Greaves will be here next season..... I will be absolutely delighted if I'm wrong and he is though.
Greaves is gone, I fear. He's had 4 forty game seasons for us, developed into an outstanding defender, is able to get forward, is very versatile and understands how modern football is played. Not quite name our price, but not far off. He's ready for a higher level. Not sure Philogene is yet. He's 18 months younger than Greaves, has only 2 seasons of 30+ games behind him and has played only a third the number of games as Greaves. He also hasn't yet developed the game nous and decision making that is needed at a higher level. It would benefit Jaden to have another season with us I feel.
Very true Philo just needs to look at bowen and klp He needs to show he can do it another season and regular game time
