I am loving the brilliant thread by @Teessidemackem on the greatest player. So much joy I have got about reminiscing about Maradona. In line with that, pop up a video or clip of football that makes you feel the love for our game. I am kicking off with the greatest team I have ever seen, Brazil 82. Beyond brilliant.
I always used to like the Danny Baker own goals and gaffes videos. 'pass me my revolver Nurse, going for a walk in the woods'
Kind of related to this. Do not watch The Last Goal Wins, the new-ish football film from Taika Waiti. It is terrible and will not make you happy. It made me quite sad.
My parents were on holiday in India in early 2014. My Dad had a heart attack and needed an emergency bypass. Two days after surgery, he had a massive stroke that left him paralysed. At one point I didn't even know if I'd see him again as they didn't know if he'd ever recover enough to travel home. Got the phone call while I was on the train home from Wembley 2014 to say he been certified well enough to travel home in an air ambulance. He was in Sunderland hospital for a while, then eventually came home. We'd still gone to Wembley anyway and he was asking about it, so I showed him this video. He absolutely loved all the supporter reactions and I must have played it for him numerous times over the next few years so he could relive the experience and recount his 1973 memories. The last conversation I had with him was the night we beat Bristol Rovers and went to Wembley in 2019. He was dying in hospital then and unlikely to last the night. I'd been to see him in the afternoon and he insisted I rang him after the final whistle as he needed to know the result! He was excited because I was going to Wembley again. He passed a few hours later. This video makes me happy as it makes me think of my Dad and all the good times we shared at the football together. I still miss him a lot.
... etc, 1978. I took my Spurs supporting father-in-law to this and found two tickets in the Spurs seats. It was a great day, for me, and I made no attempt to hide my allegiance ... ... I didnt realise there'd been serious disorder and fights with the Sunderland lads. Good game though
Thanks for sharing, Clarke and Elliott (the blond bombshells) were my favourite players when I started following the lads
I'm so jealous. I've watched that world Cup and the final so many times and still sit in awe at the Brazilian team. Just beautiful football
