Cooke was good, but it was an absolute masterclass from Clarke-Salter. I'd give JCS a 9, with 7s for Willock, Dunne, Dykes, Field and Cooke and 6s for the rest..
There you go probably see you next season, when our charity team will rock up again. https://www.not606.com/threads/queens-park-rangers-loftus-road-20-4-2024.412319/#post-17484381
It will be interesting to see if Willocks game raising performances continue in the last two games. We all know his contract ends and you would expect him to be playing well for his new contract (wherever that may be). Surely a smart player would have been doing that since January. Feels he can’t be trusted to perform to the abilities he has and to the performance levels that are required of him. He showed yesterday what he can do if he does - was a definite 8 for me yesterday. On another point when are we going to get/coach Ilias to get over the ball when shooting - his shots continually go high and wastes so many opportunities.
Perhaps "good player" is a step further than I'd go, but I know what you mean. Watching him play for Scotland is frustrating as he looks much better, and even the first season he had with us was better than what we've seen since. He may not be 'good' but where I agree with you is that we're not seeing the best of him and I hope Marti can make him more effective next season.
Must have watched a different game, Willock shirked out of a challenged after 9 seconds and spent the next 94 minutes making sure he hid behind any defender. When he has the ball he wants to beat 5 defenders and make sure the photos are taken before he even attempts a cross. Thought he was great a few years ago and will never deny his talent but both himself and Anderson were carried yesterday.
Given that Willock seems to have played his best game for a while, can I just ask? Is that him or Will Smith?
He worked his nuts off and was excellent on the ball. He tired towards the end, but was excellent. I think he's just the whipping boy for some. The only player we carried yesterday was Andersen imo.
I think Andersen is great. He plays a forward moving passing game while Chair and Willock tend to hold onto the ball too much. He suffers a bit because often Willock and Chair aren't interested in passing to him it seems. He intiates a lot of our best moves like yesterday with Willock when his cross went across their goal without anyone putting it away. He's bound to make some passing errors in trying to play the defence opening ones. Yesterday more than usual possibly. But he also looks our best dead ball taker and he even hurled in a couple of throws yesterday that landed by their goal, I think the longest I've seen from a current R, except maybe Dykes, but then he's supposed to be on the receiving end of them!
I quite like Anderson, he brings a different dimension to the game and is a forward thinking player. He does seem terrified to shoot at times and some of his corners are straight out of the 'how not to take corners' manual, written by a Kenneth Paal.
I have always said that Andersen looks a talented player, but I'm not convinced he's someone you want in a scrap. His dead ball delivery has been good at times and I think he's definitely more suited to a side playing well at the top end of the table. He rarely seems to break sweat and is undoubtedly the slowest player in the squad. Let's see what next season brings with him.
He’s ****e. I know it’s not all about goals but think that’s 21 league goals in three years for our big number nine.
One of our many problems is that our strikers worry defenders more without the ball than with it. Once its at their feet they are very ineffective.
