You mean apart from his first contribution was to fail to deal with a ball in his area that lead to a goal. All three goals came down our left channel. Poor decision to stick Dawson in the midfield. End of.
Eveeryone seems to be ignoring the fact that the last 12 minutes were totally uncharacteristic of our team. This side has never reacted to conceding a goal like that before, and I'm hoping this was a one off. You can't at this stage say we lack a leader because we've had one awful end to a game, when every other game we've defended resiliently and the attitude has been spot on, particularly defensively. Hopefully Nick will have learnt from this. Also, did anyone else see the lino stick his flag up for the 3rd goal? I was 100% convinced he'd given offside and then after it went in (and I wasn't bothered at first thinking it had been given offside) I looked back at him and he was running off awarding the goal. Did I make that up or did he get away with it because the stadium was empty by then?
The lad looked offside for the 3rd goal from the west stand....I was directly in line with it. We'll see tonight on the football league show.
to the best of my memory, that is the 1st time in the last year we have been 2-0 up, and conceded a goal like that and faced the test of an onslaught in that situation, so you can say it.
pretty sure his 1st contribution didnt award them all 3 goals tho, as i said the sub didnt work because the team lost all shape etc, but all 3 werent directly down to dawsons errors
true, its a different mindset tho, not saying he or the defence cant defend, hanging onto a 1 goal lead in 1-0 win is a good artform, but 2-0 up and cruising, then conceding 1 and all panic setting loose, is a different situation, which should have been dealt juts like defending a 1 goal lead, instead of everybody running around like headless chickens for ten minutes, it just needed somebody to get a hold of them and tell them to calm down and reorganise, and thats the captains job.
1. What the f**k is it about our games against Burnley? They always seem to have loads of luck against us. 2. The officials were woeful! 3. Their looked a mile offside. 4. Their fans were the biggest set of n*bheads to visit the KC. 5. Inexperience from Barmby with that sub. Personally, I think he sent Daws on to give his mate a run out, thinking we had the game in the bag. I doubt he'll be doing it again. At least he learns from it.
We lost all shape because Dawson should never have been asked to play left mid. Cairney keeps the ball better than any player we have. IMO he should have come on for Stewart , if Stewart was tiring. Ideally it would have been for Brady but Koren should have gone wide with TC in the middle.
Oh and 6. Gulacsi's flapping and poor communication is a cause for concern yet again. He looked comfortable until they piled on the pressure.
i agree, i also would have brought cairney on a, was just sticking up for dawson as felt he was getting all the blame, i imagine he didnt ask to be put there, or i would guess particularly wanted to have gone there...
That could be the best thing that happens to Barmby. I think we'll get hammered on Tuesday, but even if we do it won't hurt like it does now and Nicky won't take as much from it as blowing a 2-0 lead today. I think he'll have learnt an awful lot about who and when to substitute, and it shows how different the situation is when you're there, with all the power at your hands to change the game according to how you see it. I predicted 0-0 and said we'd either draw or lose, and beat these lot away on New Year's Eve. I bet we smash Burnley for 4 or 5 at their place.
Southampton are getting way too much respect. The reason they are where they are is because they play their own game without being scared of the opposition, the worst thing the team could do is respect them and go there expecting nothing. Southampton are a good footballing side but I'm 100% confident we can match them for good football. They're a few points ahead of us, we've had a few very unlucky results lately and if we'd won those as you'd expect, we'd probably be up the top with them (though I can't be arsed to check) the point is they, along with most teams in this league, are nothing special.
Mckenna wasnt fantastic he was fukin rubbish as was Evans. We were 2 nil up neither one of them can pass forward or keep the ball properly. TC has got a raw deal yet again. When it was obvious Dawson was coming on i saw TC run down the tunnel. He did come back out but then we brought Adestrolla on but had taken off both our wingers??? WHY.
Cairney for Stewart was the obvious substitution, had we seen it, I don't think we'd hav given the game away. Why Barmby doesn't rate Basso I've no idea, but he needs to get over it, he's twice as good.
simple. stewart was running on empty and had to come off. but what went on between dawson and dudgeon needs an explanation. dawson should have gone to full back and dudg in front of him. city could have done the same on the right with mcshane and rose and then brought on TC to close up the middle. but they did not. the whole team assumed at 2-0 that the game was over........2-0 the worst lead possible.....sometimes.
As Mike Jones did not the referee this match he escapes criticism on this occasion. Try Anthony Taylor.
on the football league show, it looked as tho somebody was offside when the ball was knocked over, but not the guy who ran on to it..
