He's just getting the hang of this possession football. Well drilled, looks comfortable with the ball at his feet, can pass accurately within 10 feet, never looks under pressure and Seri just loves receiving those short passes to flick out to his wing backs. It worked wonders at Derby so it's easy to see why the coach and keeper have had so much success this season and will stick to this winning system next season. We could do with a few more free kicks in the opposition half getting played backwards instead of towards the opposition penalty area. No point creating too many goal scoring opportunities.
We had an xG of 2.36 from those 6 shots, and he conceded 0. Although that doesn't account for the quality of our shots, which we may have made easier to save than we should have.
penalty is something like 0.75 the only top save i think he made outside of the penalty was the backheel from tufan the rest were straight at him
We.did every bit as much as they did. We made their keeper work more than they did Allsop today. Much as some may wish to skew the narrative to their own ends.
If you could explain it's relevance in the greater scheme, with specific detail it would be helpful. Thanks.
The double late on, and the Fabs in the top corner. You'd expect he'd be beaten on 1 of those 4 occasions in an average game. Whereas they created to a point but couldn't really get anything on target.
We had one.... a good one that the manager didnt like... but maybe we needed the money and wasted some of that money on two who were are are no good.
It was a game I enjoyed watching, normally would have been happy with a hard-earned point, but under the circumstances we needed the win. Watford were a better side than their league position shows, so we may say we are bit disappointed, but Watford is another club who just hasn't performed to the levels expected, so many sides will be saying 'If only'. I personally have enjoyed the season, and to be fighting for a playoff place is definitely better than scrapping to stay in the league. Matty Jacob had a very good game as did Greaves, good to see 2 home-grown players standout. Pity Tufan couldn't convert the penalty, but their keeper, who got MOTM, did make one or two very good saves. The ref was shocking, I was actually starting to think that officiating has got better as the season progressed, but he was very poor IMO. Well, onto Coventry and hope we can get a win there, at least taking it to next weekend with the door slightly ajar.
Good summary, John. We’re still in it. Both Coventry and Ipswich will be aiming to win, not draw, which gives us a slim chance.
Most intelligent people learn from their mistakes and we certainly have intelligent people running the club.
No narrative at all, simple facts are their keeper did his job ( kept a clean sheet ) and we as a team didn't do ours ( we didn't score ). It was another good performance but as with way way way to many games this season, we just didn't convert chances and score goals. No twisting and no narrative as much as you want to try and make one
Just watched the highlights to double check. They had 2 on target (in the short hightlights) both of which were very routine saves. Their keeper's 'Worldie' or "special day where everything he seemed to do was magnificent" actually consisted of: - a smart save from Tufan's back heel. - going the right way (fair play for reading / guessing it) to make a decent save against a poor penalty (good height for a keeper and too near to him). - everything else was routine, all hit straight at him (the free kick, Jacob's and Greaves's late efforts). For 'Fabs' (!!) free kick he didn't actually have to move his feet. Sorry to say, Greaves miss right at the end was dreadful, hit right into the keeper. No wonder Greaves looked devasted at FT. Calling it a 'worldie', 'special', 'magnificent' is pretty ridiculous when you look back at it, and distracts from the real issues. And given that 2 of those 4 shots didn't come until very late on in the game, when it became panic stations / throw the kitchen sink at them / Greaves in attack, it shows that once again we troubled them far too little given the attacking talent we have.
