.....partly because we chose to bring in Sharp and Ohio (and allow Oscar to stay out on loan). Piss poor decision making.
It’s not over till the fat lady sings. Win the next two, and if either WBA or Norwich don’t win their next, it goes to the last game. We played pretty well today. Tufan should have done better with his pen. Usually takes them like Kane - hard high and to the left, but for some reason he changed. And Greaves should have scored when one on one with keeper but that’s why he isn’t a striker.
I think you mean Cityzen and as you accused me of being a Covid Nazi, you’re in absolutely no position to criticise anyone.
I guess Tufan hasn’t been great at three games in a week which is what we now face, so he probably wants to keep something in the tank. Maybe.
we delay taking a shot too often near the end, I cant remember who it was, Philogene?, he was 20 yards out in front of goal and instead of shooting he took it forward but wider before shooting from a tight angle straight at the goalkeeper the short goal kicks are just madness at best they result in a wild kick upfield when we are under pressure at worst we concede a goal there is no advantage in them
This rhetoric that we'd magically done better if Oscar would've stayed is bullshit. Under LR last season he was poor, at Metz he was poor and he's now dropped a standard.
Positives guys, Allsop kept a clean sheet! We may yet fool someone into taking him off our wage bill.
I thought Carvalho looked more tired than Tufan today tbf. Various times in the second half he stopped chasing things, especially when it came to helping out with the defence. Another thing, our throw ins are ****.
He did average 1 in 3 under Rosenior in pretty low overall minutes. He’d have certainly added something, think after a decent pre season he could’ve stepped up this season but it’s a ruthless game
I'm not a betting man but I'd bet my house that he'd of contributed way way more than Sharp and Ohio combined, and that might have been enough to have got us into the play offs. But anyway that's taking us away from the main point. The decision was made to let Oscar go, and then to let him stay there. The bigger issue was the decision making to bring in Sharp and Ohio for the 2nd half of a season where we were pushing for a playoff place. Dreadful decision making.
Can someone explain to me (and no I didnt see the game) how their goalkeeper has a worldie with 6 shots on target one of which was a penalty...
Looking back on the summer and January, we've never really adressed the striker situation. Delap is a fantastic prospect and I hope we keep him, but if are really serious about promotion we need to bring in a top striker. To not replace Delap in Januray was criminal for a team pushing for top 6. Sharp and Ohio were not the answer and we all knew it. Hopefully the decision makers at the club have realised where they went wrong this season and put it right in the summer.
5 in 17 which isn't bad, spent a decent period out injured, was injured for the first half of this season and appears to be injured again now. EDIT: He's not injured, just an unused sub after being hauled off in the first game after 45 mins It was a summer without a sale so it's always difficult to find a decent striker for little money. I think we did a very decent job. It's easy to sit here and say we should've signed a replacement striker but who was available in January who we could have attracted? The summer market looks interesting, Tyrese Cambell, Daniel Jebbison & Sinclair Armstrong are all available on frees and all have decent potential.
