Anybody else notice the joint statement made by the FA & Premier League this week regarding the restructure for the FA Cup for next season? No more lucrative replays from next season from the 1st round onwards is the most important takeaway! So basically our so called independent regulator of our game in cahoots with the Fat Cats from the Premier League, have said F*ck you to all the other 711 football clubs that participate in the FA Cup every season! The FA Cup replays are the very lifeblood to teams lower down the football pyramid who rely on the much needed added income that replays represent. We have all known for years that the Premier League and FA are both driven by sheer greed but this latest diktat will go further in destroying the football pyramid in this country! Like every other Town fan I would dearly love us to be playing back in the Elite league next season but to be honest I am not sure that I want to be part of this despicable cabal that is slowly killing our game.
The inauguration of the PL was the start of the slippery slope, there really is no going back now. Apart from the odd anomaly, like Leicester,I really can't see anyone outside the big four really challenging for honours.
It,s all going wrong, every decision they make is to benefit the top 6 or 7 teams in the premiership. I am old enough to remember & also lucky enough to have gone to fourth replay against Leeds in 75 at Filbert Street. I can see that was bonkers, but what is wrong with 1 replay ?
Go back to infinite replays. A bit of drama. A bit of fun! Make the ball go forward from kick off. Get rid of interfering for offsides and intent for hand ball.
I'm slightly bemused by the fact that the only time we lump the ball forward is from kick off where the ball is passed back to Wolfie who invariably launches it down the left wing.
