FFS Jewell is taking us in one direction, that is down... Any fool who does think he should be given more time knows f*~k all about football, why would you take Chops off who was a menace to their back line all day and replace him with an out of form Bullard...? Jewell = a fat version of Royston Keane..! 17,000 this week by January that will be down by another 1,000 is that not a clear enough message to Evans that we are not happy.? TAXI for Jewell, make it snappy.....
Thanks Weighty, I would say anyone who disagrees with me knows f*** all about football and is probably thick as s***, but unfortunately I'm never that eloquent and never intelligently think about my argument. One thing I will say is its very very easy in this world to be cynical, particularly as a football fan!!
ptc Im not interested in claiming the moral superior high ground all I want is what's best for ITFC and if you think that we have the right man in charge then I think you are seriously deluded. One example of the sheer incompetence has to be the fact that we are the only football team without a right back on our books. I man FFS this is not schoolboy standard football. We pay a heck of a lot of money to watch this team and pay the players wages and I am sick to the back teeth of all the excuses from Jewell. We all know we can't defend so what the **** is he doing about it? This is the worst Ipswich Team since our relegation in the 93/94 season but at least back then we had a huge amount of hope with a new manager and a 5 year plan. The only plan that Jewell has got must have been written on the back of a *** packet. Billy Davis would be a great shout IMO he would steady the ship.
And it would be great if these boards weren't full of people posting moronic arguments on here. There's clearly an argument for many points of view and good one's from both sides but putting it accross how some people do actually makes me question the intelligence of humans and whether people actually think about what they are saying!! Spanish has managed to change his ways and put his views accross without the insults and its actually been put together with some thought rather than just rants of swearing, why can't everyone else!!!
WTF how can someone not agree with me when I posted after them...? Regardless of the fact that I am correct...! Jewell is also a fool, keep your beard out of it unless you know wot you are talking about...!
He can keep his cool I would imagine because he has just not had to sit through that shambolic performance....again...!
JWM once again I'm struggling to see what your trying to say, you really do confuse me sometimes. I have no idea why you suddenly talk about taking the moral high ground, it was not really needed in that last post?? So would you say someone was deluded who was calling for Jewell to get the sack at the start of the season after a few games and then who went on to say a month later that he thought Jewell was the right man for the job and then a month later that he should get the sack??? JWM I respect you as a diehard fan of Ipswich and I may well be alot more concerned/angry about the situation if I went to as many games as you do but sometimes I cannot take your views seriously because they're so inconsistent this time next month you could well think Jewell is the best manager in ITFC history!!!
The next 2 games are vital and if we get nothing from either than the P45 should be the only card that Jewell gets for Christmas. Burnley Away Tuesday night - Since they came from 2-0 down away at Hull to win 3-2, they will be full of confidence and they will be rubbing their hands together at the prospect of facing us on their home patch. Watford at Home on Saturday - We haven't beaten them since God was a boy and I can't see the sequence ending especially at home. Looking at the fixtures list I can't see where the points are coming from last 5: Town 0 Palace 1 Millwall 4 Town 1 Town 2 Doncaster 3 Forest 3 Town 2 Town 2 - Reading 3 Apart from Palace we have lost to teams below us in the table when we played them.
FFS......let me spell it out for you then, he does not think Jewell is the right man for the job, OK.?
Guys come on, no need for saying people know FA about football. As mentioned before, we all want the best for Ipswich but have different ideas on how to obtain success. Its clear for all to see that its just not working at the moment but some think that an immediate change of manager is just too soon, who's to say they are wrong? Personally i think they are wrong but tbh i can't see Jewell getting sacked so i hope they are right and he manages to turn the current form around. One thing that is bugging me is how we can go on that winning streak, looking like promotion candidates, to looking like relegation candidates in such a short time without any major change in personnel? The only thing i can put it down to is the fact that teams had us watched, sussed out how we play and how to counteract that way. This is where a manager shows his abilities by being able to adapt to different situations, Jewell has shown he is clueless on this front and this is one of the main reasons i think he should go!!
Fair comment Spanish, I have just got back from the game & I am fumming so probably need to reflect a little.! I would add though that Jewell is fast turning into a big fat joke amongst the more senior fans I speak to or overhear comments from, most were left some what confused with the Chops/Bullard switch today, it just invited them on to us for the last 20 or so mins of the game. Apologies to any offended by comments, I am just not very happy with things at this time..!
The only silver lining is that old Leadboots will be missing for the next 3 or 4 games through injury. Perhaps Jewell will suddenly see the light and give Luke Hyam his chance but then again I doubt it! Tick Tock. Tick Tock the clock's ticking Mr Jewell
Ahh now I understand Hoopers, thanks for clearing that one up for me!!! Good post Spanish, very good summing up of whats happened but I do believe he should be given more time. On the tactics front I believe Jewell is probably not one of the better managers from what I have seen but from his overall management approach I like. I don't believe he's had enough time for him to build a team that could be his own team with his brand of football, he's had to do alot of mix and matching. Perhaps when he took over we were a team on a major slide like Derby were and he doesn't have the tactical nous to see out games and do what is neccessary if his plan A doesn't work, although sayin that he seemed to manage it ok last season!! I'm sure if he would have taken over when Keane did we wouldn't be were we are now but its stopping the slide. I just don't know what the answer is atm but I don't think its changing the manager. If we keep changing the manager IMO its only going to get worse and take longer for us to get back on the right track. If this run goes on much longer I may change my mind, only time will tell.
Could it be the club at fault in a way? At smaller clubs, Jewell has done ok. At 'bigger named' clubs he seems to struggle. Perhaps the club is too big for him? Just a thought......
PTC You want him to have more time and I think his time has come, fair enough we agree to disagree I have changed my mind on Jewell simpley because I have had to witness some of these god awful performances first hand. I know a lot of people at Portman Road that I go to football with and they all say the same as me. I know a few people who work at the club and they all say the same as me. There is a ground swell starting just like against Keane and if things do not turn round quickly it will soon engulf the manager. There were only 16,500 today and if we lose on Tuesday night I predict less than 15,000 for the Watford game. This can not be allowed to continue and as Jewell is responsible he must carry the can, thats football.
Jewell quote Jewell said he brought on Jimmy Bullard late on to try to help see the game out: “We tried to play 4-3-3 and just shore it up a little bit, but we didn’t keep the ball, we didn’t pass the ball really, but even so, the goals we gave away didn’t come from that, they came from people not marking.” Bullard is no defensive player!!
