Why do you need to change other decisions? Which ones were clearly wrong like that one crucial one?

Can we just accept Newcastle were the worst in the group over 6 games like I've been saying all day ?

You think all the other big decisions were correct? I don't. If you change anything in the past the future would be completely different.

We know that’s not what happened ffs. The discussion is on how the incorrect penalty affected things. It’s not an if but or maybe. The decision was wrong.

The penalty was given so your theory has to be an if.

Still waiting for you to name one. Anyway it’s this clearly crucial one we are discussing

No because we weren’t. We officially finished bottom because of that decision

We came last so how can we not have been the worst over 6 games?

It’s not a theory the decision was wrong. Of course it was given, wrongly

No anything at all.. if you change anything in the past the future will change completely.

Not necessarily, an incorrect corner , free kick or throw in etc won’t necessarily change the result of the game. Unless they don’t score a penalty gives a clear chance to incorrectly affect the result as that did.

I’ll concede that but that’s the whole point of the discussion on the penalty. It affected the whole group.

No really the future would be completely different. It's not as straight forward as you think that's all.

The future would be different but the result the same. An incorrect penalty is crucial to the future. Minor decisions may affect minor things but aren’t crucial.

Thanks and yes it did impact the group because it was a goal in the end. Pope could still have saved it or Newcastle could have scored more goals.

It is what it is but this notion that one decision was the be all and end all is what I see many toon fans claiming.

We just weren't good enough vs the best of best.

Problem is that one decision was that crucial. There was hardly time to score more goals so it cost us two points. With those two points we don’t need to beat AC and in injury time could shut up shop instead of going Gung ho for a winner.
We weren’t good enough to win the group and certainly not the cup but we were robbed by the incorrect penalty. Even losing the last game we would have been third and AC in the CL
