As alluded to by others the decision making is in the wrong hands.

How did eg Brentford get Frank, Ipswich get McKenna or Luton get Edwards etc? Certainly not by leaving it to a foreigner 6000 miles away unqualified to do so.

It’s been said before and will be again: until this changes we’ll go round in ever decreasing circles.

It's been said before, financially, Tan has been essential. However, football wise, he has been a real hindrance.
It has to be said again, none of his other businesses would be run this way.
Some of the finances have been squandered by our managers, the majority of it by him.

Just for balance, Tan will have wasted less on Velikonja than Malky did on his 'one for the future'.

A 12 year history of some bloody awful signings. Like setting fire to some £50m in transfer fees before agents fees, wages and pay offs to get shot of them are added.

Perhaps not quite so wasteful this season apart from Ugbo (and even he did a few positive things despite being overall pants) and Deadhead but it all emphasises the need for someone with a football brain on the board.

TBF Diedhiou could have proved to be a half decent loan. On paper his record was pretty much identical to Moore's and I do recall watching him on a few occasions for the Wurzels where he was n absolute beast.

Sadly it looks as though he's become another of those players that are content to become a journeyman just picking up wages for little effort now.

Exactly what I thought when we signed him, in desperation on the last day of the window when Moore went to Ipswich.

His form at Bristol is 3 years or so ago and he has done feck all since.

Before signing him they must have just looked at his Bristol record not the bigger picture.

Beskitas have got a short list of 7 - and he's just one of them. Looking at other names on their list, I think he'd struggle get the job in front of some of them.

Having said that, I wouldn't blame him if he's already talking to them. I don't think Tan likes him - the current situation at City regarding next season is a farce.

    Well said.
Although I still can't come to a definitive opinion about Bulut, he's a symptom and not a cause of our current situation. Given Tan's history with managers, it's clear to see that if the manager isn't to his liking, then any manager isn't going to last long with us regardless of their ability.
"Farce" is absolutely the right word when it comes to the running of the club and planning for the future.

With you on Bulut - put me down as a "don't know". I fear decisions which overtly may well be right, will however be taken for the wrong reasons.

The problem then remains - quo vadis Mr. Tan?

If every manager had their way on whatever players they wanted - albeit within FFP restraints and the clubs budget - they could never complain if they had their way but the new players didn’t result in silverware.

On paper the majority of players he brought into the club with an embargo restraint in the summer were decent but for a host of reasons, some not in his control eg Ramsey’s fitness and Moore’s preference for Ipswich he hasn't been able to get a consistent standard of play and results. Credit is due for him managing to avoid a relegation scrap - it’s often though asked amongst the fans how has the team got so many points- but his failure to enthuse the fans especially at home games sufficiently leaves a question mark about whether he can adapt more to a modern style of football or not.

People can go round and round on Bulut's ability and make strong cases for and against but none of that addresses the deeper issues.

If he's on the list then either he or his agent has been asked and an interest has been expressed. I wouldn't be surprised if City are aware of this hence the lack of movement with a new contract for Bulut.

All smoke and mirrors and no guarantee he will get the Besiktas job in competition with some bigger names.

However it could also set the scene for other clubs, bigger than City, to look at him. I will be surprised if he is with us next season, one way or another.

If he was offered a contact by City right now, do you reckon he'd take it straight away, or play the longer game?

That's a fantastic question Sparkey and without being in his head, is impossible to answer. However, how he reacts to that offer will speak volumes about him. As you suggested earlier, much will depend on how he perceives his relationship with Tan.
For me, there's no getting away from the fact that Tan continues to show his lack of nous with regard to football.
I'm just being broken record now but I firmly believe that Tan has my beloved Cardiff City in decline. I hate being negative and seemingly lacking in gratitude but for how long are we supposed to be grateful when there is no direction for the club?
Still we're stuck with it I suppose.
I'm shutting up now cos I'm babbling.

Copy from a BBC report when Bulut was first appointed last year.................

"Bulut has agreed an initial one year deal to become Cardiff's fifth manager in the space of two years, with an option to extend if certain targets on the field are met."

What option? What targets needed to be met?

It must be an option the club holds rather than Bulut - could that be used to prevent him going elsewhere if Tan decided he wanted to trigger it?

Maybe Bulut can't go anywhere else until the club decides not to take up the option - but by when would that need to be?

One has to assume the written agreement clarifies the terms of the option. Not forgetting of course both parties signed on to the agreement so Bulut will know precisely what the terms are.

No doubt all parties involved know what they signed up to, but we don't - that's the point.

All this speculation about Bulut's future at the club - will he stay or will he go - seems to be as always totally in the hands of Tan and his whims.

What a way to run the football side of a football club.

Perhaps Erol does want to stay.
Perhaps he needs to finish above a certain position in the league to stay.
It would explain his doggedness when it comes to team selection.

    OR

The doggedness with team selection is to ensure he DOESN'T finish above that position.
