maybe they should aim to miss and close their eyes before shooting.

or maybe just stop doing that either.

either wya just do the opposite.

now. the only thing in our favour is CRAZYILY atlanta have been forced to play tonight by the italian serie A.

they play verona at home so we can check out what team played and maybe half thiers will get injured or be tired.

I would expect at this point they''d rest everyone and focus on getting to SF.

The only bad miss was Jones', the others were just thwarted by last-ditch defending. Unless of course you listen to the drivel spouted by that knob-end Carragher.
There has been some poor finishing recently it's true, but on another day probably 3 of those yesterday would have gone in.

    well, I'd agree mostly.

Endo leaned back and swung his standing foot at it and it whent anywhere. Usually you get a bit of lluck and that means it doesn't go right at a keeper or sky high but this went sky high and hit the bar. hardly a crime.

Diaz focused so hard on keeping it donw he actually did too well and it lost pace bouncing down. again on another day it bounces over a keeper

Nunez hit a snap shot hard. its not right at the keeper but i don't think slowing down to aim will be any better. again it doens't necessarally mean a bad miss.

Jota side footed it and was a tiny bit slow imo . thats very hard and its more a case of a defender defending with his life. (whereas ours have stopped)

Salah again i don't see him taking too long ove rit and its a great defensive block.

This is all true. But then theres vvd heading over konate heading over. jones missing and a few more as well.

Carragher was a knob head. he was extremely harsh but yeah it shoudl be 0-0 not 0-1 but its not. Its just the way it is.

Every corenr we got nearly coughed up a real chance. we still missed them though.

Nothing you've said is wrong, but it's not quite my point.
We usually make a lot of chances and only a percentage of them are near-goals, so I'm not including the ones that weren't on target - that happens all the time. I'm only thinking of attempts, decent and on-target, that on another day might all go in. I haven't even mentioned Endo, because he missed, but efforts from Nunez, Salah, Jota and Diaz could all just as easily have gone in. All of them, including Endo's, were decent efforts - snap-shots taken in an instant without any time to set yourself or pick a spot, so I wouldn't call any of them "bad finishing".

Pressure is almost off as well. Everyone thinks this tie is over. Go out there get a goal, if you suddenly make it 2-0 that becomes a very nervous home stadium and you just never know what could happen.

Let’s just hope it doesn’t go to ET!!

Exactly. Nothing to lose and everything to gain. Just go out, play your game and see what happens.

yes that is fair. jota might have been quicker but that would be very harsh. a lot of the time a diaz type effort flies miles over. he actually kept it down too well

I actually thought nunez one wasn't even at the keeper he tied to hit it across the goal

the stats say 21 shots 6 on target so we are agreeing on 4 very good blocks/saves in the 6 but we actually missed a lot.

palace had 8 in total and had one just like ours that should have gone in but for alisson reactions and a couple powerpuff shots that were no toruble. The one off the line.

70% possession and 11 corners and 16 attempts off target means really we can curse our luck but you could make that game any score. 3-3? we gave them chances to get that. i'd that 3-3 now today LOL.

Nunez caught it perfectly, if he miss-hits it, it's a goal.

In ye olden days, it was held as a truism that all teams went through a bad spell at some point in the season.
In recent years the winning points total has climbed to the point where no-one can afford to have more than a handful of off games.
There seems to be a belief that the wheels have fallen off and we've blown our title challenge now, but it could just be a bad patch. I'm not saying that that's the case, because I'm not Mystic Meg, and even if it's true it might still all be over because of the City juggernaut, I'm just saying that I'll wait to see how the next couple of games pan out before passing judgement.

In reality we've had a few bad patches this season where we've found a way to get results. This period just happens to be one too far.

Yeah, I'm not giving up, but think odds are highly against us. Unfortunately feel like we're sputtering at the end of the season once again. Legs just couldn't make it at the high pace one more month.

Not going to complain though. I had us down for 4th and maybe one cup. Whatever happens now we've beaten my expectations at the start of the season.

If we turn this around (still a chance) it will be a very memorable moment in a decent season that has already been better than expected.

We don’t usually do mundane routes to winning stuff do we, so let’s put another classic comeback in the history books <cool>

I'm still trying to think what kind of team we might play.

Atlanta did play a semi full team v verona last night so we should be trying to make the game agasint them really intense.

With bradley out i am tempted to say start trent and get 45 mins out of him at rb rather than gomez. you cannot sub them on with 30mins to go and end up in extra time flagging either so its a tough one.

    Alisson
Gomez Konate VVD roberton (but these guys have to actually defend properly and put their bodies o nthe line)
Szobo Macca Elliott (I really can't make much of this bar endo cannot move with fatigue and jones isn't ready)
Salah jota nunez (what people want)

Theres a simply tactic after doing for us at home. They stood two players in fornt of our cbs and two players behind our static cms to press when they got it.

We how do we make width. do we go 424? Throw diaz on as well and hope for the best?

in 2021/22 we lost 6 our of 7 league games. Why? we blew up due to injuries and not playing cbs at cb so the midfield was destroyed.

In 2022/23 we blew up why? no midifeld. we lost 3 and drew one in january and repreate dit in march with tougher games.

This season we've exceeds expectations yes but again we've bascially blown up in midfleld and klopp has admitted certain players have played do much "becasue they had to" Its just a crying shame as it is klopp's last few games.

It is a shame, but it's a result of how we play. We play unrelenting football all year long. High pressure, lots of running. I think the team literally can't keep going at that rate all season. No wonder we get so many injuries too...

It's why we've lost a number of cup finals and why our league performance takes a dip at the end. We're not going Spursy and bottling it, we're just out of bottle.

We could still turn around Atalanta, it's incredible what the team can do when up against a wall (3-0 is not an unmatchable scoreline), and we're just about guaranteed a top three finish, but it looks like we're in for a struggle for the last handful of games unless the team gets a second wind.

But focusing on the game at hand winning by three goals away from home... We can do it, it's not impossible... Just not something you would bet on. I'll pull 10% chance of doing it out my arse. Most teams I wouldn't give 10% to, but we can do crazy things under Klopp. <laugh>
