No thanks, it's a company car so costs me nothing and saves me a chunk in BIK tax.... Id just never spend my own money on one as it's just not worth it. Once they get hydrogen sorted then we're making progress

Not needed changing yet, just noticing the wear on them is much quicker then the equivalent diesel version I had before. It's gone through one set of tyres though so far

Great. Meanwhile, plenty of other people are embracing EVs and do consider them progress. Since you're so welcoming of opinions which differ from your own, you won't mind them doing so and that'll be the end of it I imagine.

They can do as they please, it's their money and their choice. Unlike some, I don't really care, but that doesn't mean I can't have an opinion on them and I can have that opinion without ranting on about people being "middle aged men", "people who don't like change" or whatever terms you seem to want to use for people who don't think the same as you.... Maybe I should call them suckers, sheep, uneducated or such like, just to even things up with your pointless digs?

Fair enough, I have no experience of hybrids as there's no tax or discount advantages of them where I live.

If there's already numerous niche complaints about charging electric cars from lampposts and range anxiety, I can't see hydrogen cars ever getting popular.

Tesla have just informed their workforce that 10% of them are being let go (over 14,000 staff).

I suspect this will just be the start, the Chinese are developing better technology at far lower prices.

    Exciting times.

Like 2007-2010 when numerous smartphones hit the market all with different interesting tech and then the big boys stole it, incorporated it and charged on ahead. Tesla have good brand loyalty, but definitely getting left behind on build quality, model variation and software now - BYD and Nio all over it.

The future is here, well almost, sort of, nearly.....

Reuters reported on Monday that BP had cut more than a tenth of the workforce in its electric vehicle charging business – representing more than 100 jobs – and has pulled it out of several markets after a bet on rapid growth in commercial electric vehicle fleets did not pay off

wait until you hear the conspiracy theories and they become more common
the chinese cheap electric cars are going to be controlled by the ccp and cause intentional gridlocks to bring down uk cities

for whats its worth, for the price, they are decent cars im told

    in terms of electric cars
its not a sudden process, no one is going to wake up one day and their 'ice' car suspended
the change to electric cars is going to be a very slow process, the infrastructure and technology will advance fast
its possible now to be an early adopter of an electric vehicle, but you can still drive the ICE car and petrol is still for sale as it will be for the long forseeable future

like all new technology, electric cars in 10 years will be so much better

in an ideal world, we can make things without taking from the earth, but its not possible, maybe 1000 years in the future when we have dyson sphere around the earth etc
but anyone with children especially should welcome the electric car

do you realise just how much pollution ice cars emit in cities? walking on a pavement next to a road? living next to a road

ofcourse current battery technology is poor, we still use lithium ion, but they dont excavate just for one battery, every battery you can think of is lithuin ion
    your phone
    car
    laptop
    torch

hopefully battery tech will massively advance too, i love cars and racing, and the sound of a v8 is incredible, im sure you can still take one out for a track day, after all, when you can push the car to its limit instead of stuck at 70mph legally, its win win

You forgot to mention men identifying as women and competing in female sports. Ironic that your tolerance of everything doesn’t extend to those who have a totally different opinion than yourself.

we had a hybrid car 10 years ago
when it was time to buy another new car we didnt like the hybrid cars available and went back to fully petrol
new cars are so much better than second hand cars because they last a long time without much maintenance

Ford Dealer Richardson's in Bridlington and Driffield, been selling Ford for decades, have recently taken on GWM Ora in addition to Fords. No, I hadn't heard of them either! They are yet another Chinese EV retailer. Although the RRP is quite high (£30k+), the monthly finance deals are crazy cheap as they want to get a foothold obviously.
I find it bizarre. Ford have stopped making some of the most popular cars going (Fiestas, Ka+s, EcoSports and shortly Focuses). They now basically have Puma's (£25k+ for basic model), Kuga's (£30k+) and then Mustang (£43k+). Near enough the only cars they have on their forecourts are 1-3 year old Puma's. And that's about it. It's like they are on a suicide mission in the UK.
I believe their aim is to move over to all electric .... where they will be competing head on with the likes of .... err.... GWM Ora! (I know Ford aren't Richardson's and vice versa).
    All seems crackers to me.

I've not heard of GWM - a lot of the Chinese EV brands are re-branded SAICs or DongFeng made on license - MG is, JAC and I think Maxus - different business model to traditional western carmakers. They're all fighting to get a foothold in the budget market in India and Asia.

Ford have been struggling in Europe for over a decade - the UK was it's last stronghold for private vehicles, but sales are down hugely... They're also at the back of the electrification process, which is maybe linked.

Ford have announced this year they are scaling back their investment in EVs, due to poor sales and profit on them. I think I saw it was a 4.7 billion loss for them last report period. They've pulled the plug on a factory in USA, reduced the size of one of their lithium iron phosphate plants and decided against opening up a planned battery plant in turkey.... Which I think in total was approx 12 billion investment

Ford are scaling back EV production, to increase Hybrid production, as these are proving far more successful (Toyota have gone down the same route).

Which if done properly ( for me anyway ) would be a great solution. I drive way to much for fully electric. If I could have a hybrid that I could do let's say 100 miles on battery but have the ice engine as well if be happy
