To be fair throughout the season we have had a number of highs (played like Barcelona, we're gonna win the league) and a similar number of lows (played like a relegation team, Rosie says we will not see a performance that bad again, we did) It's just as likely that the next game we will be poor as it will be another master class. Sum up the season in one word, topsyturvy.

Surely you could include the Leeds match in that? Although your comments after that match would not really fit your current narrative.

So to clarify are those that were LR out post-Stoke now inclined to give him some more time to show further improvement next season? Was it perhaps a bit knee-jerk?

he'd been obsessed with messing about at the back for a long time and people who wanted him out responded to us most likely not getting in the top 6. I dont think that should be classed as knee jerk.
now he seems to have seen the light it would obviously change people's opinions

I think it's the definition of a knee jerk, is it not? Waiting until the end of the season to see how we finished the season would have made more sense.

why? when we know it's very unlikely we will be promoted.
we have played poorly, especially at home, for a while now
but people thought it would be madness while we had a reasonable chance of promotion
the odds are well against us getting top 6

So people wanted him out because we weren't going to get promoted? That seems a rather harsh measuring stick. We're still not going to get promoted but people seem to have changed their mind, so that clearly wasn't it.

they didnt think he was managing us well for a long time but there was a chance of promotion so didnt want to rock the boat at a crucial time
once it looks like we are unlikely to get in the top 6 and there is no improvement in how we are playing some people thought we might as well change the manager then
"We're still not going to get promoted but people seem to have changed their mind, so that clearly wasn't it."
you dont seem to be understanding reality
people werent happy about the type of football we played
they changed their minds about sacking him due to him appearing to change his mind about the style of football we played
if you cant understand that then you never will

Is posting on this board 'rocking the boat' now? Blimey.

You've still not answered my question though - we're still not getting promoted now but people have changed their tune. How does that reconcile with your claim people wanted him out because we couldn't make the play offs? And if they've changed their tune after three games, how can it be anything other than a knee jerk reaction to a poor game against Stoke?

Can't speak for anyone else, but for me personally I was on the fence, leaning towards a change. I thought our performances were limited in terms of how far the play style could take us. After more than a season's worth of games we'd only seen a couple of glimpses of the shackles coming off in attack.

If we keep up these types of performances, or at least look like we're trying to then the question goes away - but it's a big if as we've had positive reactions to bad results before and slipped back to playing overly cautiously. Now it just seems different though. It's not the scorelines, it's the complete change in tempo and chance creation that's lead to some really good attacking and exciting performances.

I think it was the definition of knee-jerk. But the January signings raised the expectations significantly, but most of the January signings haven't worked and I don't think that's LR's fault.

    Are you mad?

Where did I say posting on this thread is 'rocking the boat'?
I talked about sacking Liam would be 'rocking the boat' and it wouldnt be good to do it while we still had a realistic chance of the play-offs.

You seem to say anything just so you can argue against it.

    You have a mental illness.

If I'm not mistaken you were the one that argued with me.

You suggested that people calling for LR to be sacked would be rocking the boat if they did so prior to the Stoke game. You also then said that it wasn't knee jerk to call for it following the Stoke game even though people are now changing their mind again - kind of the definition of knee jerk. Can't really explain it any clearer to you, but the irony of your post is not lost on me.

Result hadn't been going our way, and if there were some frustrated players in the squad, it's not unreasonable to think Tan might have stepped in. That's kinda how business works.

IMO it's a good news story, we seem to have more urgency to our play and if he did step in, it sounds like Tan handled a situation that could have escalated very well.
