listen to yourselves ffs. barmby made 1 sub which most managers in the country would have made. he took off a knackered cam stewart and put on an experienced old head to see out the game. most of us would have done the same thing. there's no way that 1 change can turn a good defensive team into a **** one. all the players switched off thinking they had 3 points in the bag. dont forget that from the first minute we sounded sloppy & not at our best.
We'll learn a lot about Nick's mentality after this, to lose any game after been 2-0 up with 10 minutes to go is always gutting. As Proud Tiger says, this is where we probably missed Pearson's closing the game out approach. Might head to the pub tonight and have a few drinks to forget the result.
We were sloppy, played pretty **** to be honest Fryatt aside. They should have been 2-0 up after 5 minutes, and was thinking at about 60 minutes we don't deserve to win this. As soon as they got the first I turned round and said they're going to snatch this and lo and behold...
I'm inclined to agree in most cases, but that was very coincidental, almost laughably. We weren't at our best from start to finish, I think our problem stems from a lack of options off the bench. I would have brought on McShane, pushed Rosie to LB and Macca at RB. But even so, I wouldn't have picked anybody off that bench as a game changer. Burnley had Amougou, Vokes and Zavon Hines, all good players. We had Dawson, McShane, Cairney and Adebola. Christ. Why not Emerton instead of Dawson? Chester, McShane, Dudgeon, Evans and Rosenior can all play LB, so why do we need an unflexible option that can only play one position? Experienced maybe, but isn't that why McKenna, Basso, Koren, Rosenior and Fryatt are in there?
Maiami - Both Hull AND leicester are going to have very long seasons if we dip our bread every time one or the other drops points - My call is unless they come stirring, there is no issue between the clubs now
All 3 goals came from Dudgeons/Dawsons side too... Even more of a coincidence? Anyway I'm not saying the Dawson sub caused it, although you could tell he's not played for awhile, more the face the whole team was everywhere and totally out of shape. Pearson would have blown a gasket at this...
Prehistoric by name, prehistoric by nature. The title of the post sums you up perfectly. Surprised you had time to post this, bet you're ones of the cocks that texts Blunderside with ****e like this. BARMBY OUT !! there said it for you. Cock
I'm afraid I think it was a shocking substitution, not the fact that Barmby brought Dawson on for Stewart, but the fact that he made it a straight swap, rather than putting Dawson at left back and Dudgeon on the wing. We looked like we were playing with two left backs when he came on, neither seemed to know what each of them was supposed to be doing, Dudgeon's a perfectly good winger, I think it was Nicky's first **** up. PS - Burnley are ****e, I hope they go down.
**** off you utter bellend! I had the time to write this as I have an iPhone, didn't you know the internets widely available on smartphones? You're the prehistoric one more like. And never texted blunderside in my life. Did I say barmby out? No! You said it. I'm just pissed off we gamely threw away a 2 goal lead with 15 minutes to go because I'm passionate about my team. You however seem joyful that we lost. You sir are the cock, go stick your head up your own arse you stuck up ****
i agree, i assumed dudgeon would go onto the wing..it was strange, personally id have brought cairney on and put koren left, but hel learn quicker from mistakes then when everything goes swimmingly..
Thought we played really well for 60 mins, good snappy football, I thought 3-0 was coming. Then we gave them a sniff and imploded. Gutted. For the record, I think Burnley looked poor and we should have finished them off. The substitution was wrong, no doubt. We took our own impetus away. I don't think Dawson or Adebola got near the ball at all, unfortunately. Just bounced over or around them. I hope it's something Nick learns from. I wasn't keen on his appointment as I see it as sentimental and blinkered, but obviously to slate him now is not the right thing to do. Tough games coming (Soton, Brum & Leicester) so season shaping I feel.
The two facets of a good defense, discipline and shape! NP's very presence instilled discipline and with that the team kept its shape. We had little discipline or shape today, the best team managed with more tacticle nouse won today. End of, they wanted it more and eventually got what they deserved.
Why didn't it make sense for him to bring Dawson on? You say he's not played in ages... well when is he meant to START playing again if you can't give him some game time when you're 2-0 up? If Andy had have made it 3-0, NB would be a genius right now. Let's try not to over react to the result... it was Burnley after all and most of us probably expected something like this to happen yet again... maybe not to lose a 2 goal advantage but still... I see what you're saying about the left side confusion and to be fair you're right about that, but anybody who thought it was a mistake to bring Dawson on full stop doesn't know what they're on about.
