Beale was slated for it. So was Mowbray. I think using subs is a tricky business, so many moving parts in a game. But there is a tendency these days to wait until the 65 min mark. I suspect coaches are so sure their plan is the right one it will click. Mourinho was thr best I have seem with subs and he would change after 30 mins when necessary. Brave call, player morale being subbed in first half will be in question, but as a coach you cant nod off at the wheel.

Just a little shout out for Parky! Promoted today. Done the business down there.

In my time I cant remember a more dour coach. He was never a fit for our players, but for league 1 he was. I would bet in 2 years he has Wrexham in the Championship. Has been like a cheat code for Wrexham so far, along with one or two players.

Sometimes it needs a club and coach to match. Wrexham picked a great coach for the aspirations. I suspect once in the championship they need to move on. But as the arch defender of coaches on here - well done Parky <applause><applause>

Hes done well there, was reading the other day they have the highest wage bill across L1 n L2 teams - not sure if thats true but it's crazy some of the wages they are paying

Sounds like they are doing lots of work with the academy but appartently losing loads of money

They are always a decent watch

Paying championship level wages apparently, still, back to back promotions in the cluster **** seasons that the EFL brings is no mean feet so fair play to them

    Definitely, great achievement

Lots of experienced players on big contracts there so be interesting if they keep going that way or whether theyll try n add some younger players to compliment the squad

The Disney appeal will do wonders for them I feel, they’ll probably have a top 6 budget in league one next year, atleast 2 big hitters going up from that level this season too they could be right up there again

Promoted because of finances and nout more. Still had to do the job but the fact they were favourites to go up as a newly promoted team says a lot. Reckon they’ll probably do well in L1 too but will be a much bigger challenge than L2, they’ll be amongst some decent L1 teams plus a few relegated champ teams.

How does FFP work further down the leauge because as you say, they have cheat coded so far, but at some point the books need balancing.

I believe in L1 and L2 the owners can inject capital at the start of the season which accounts for the clubs loss. Last season in non league they had a wage bill higher than all of L2 and “most of L1” according to maguire

Knowing that that c**t that used to play for us,Wigan and Stoke is happy tonight pisses me off. The wheels have to fall off at some point with them, they must be hemorrhaging money. Watched the first series of that Wrexham thing on Disney, managed about 3 of the second but gave up after that.

I reckon they’ll have a good go in L1 because most clubs are skint again but the championship is a different ball game. Reynolds might have some coin in the lower leagues but look at Stoke for example, owners are mega rich and they’re in a relegation battle. Billionaire owners are common at this level and this is probably as far as they’ll peak imo.

Ridiculous. I remember on the Disney thing the money he was on was giving some of the players the needle. There's an argument for if Wrexham can buy their way up the leauges, why can't any owner spend what that want?,Last season, all the players in the squad got a 12k bonus, so f**k knows what they got this year. Ill be honest, it's not a jealousy thing, but I just haven't bought into the whole Wrexham thing.

What a will say with Wrexham is it’s a proper old football club which maintained a good fan base though all the tough times, and clubs like that deserve the upturn.

Stockport is a bigger story in sporting terms. A passionate bunch of fans at a tiny club surrounded by massive clubs, that stayed alive and grew without mega rich owners.

Big story this weekend for me though is Leverkusen today. Delighted it’s on Sky. Sensational to watch. Relentless. Classy. A club we likely all enjoyed watching in the early years of the Champions League.

Its a wonderful story of an admittedly well financed club but one that’s absolute core and ethos is the production and development of talent, that’s just hit a perfect storm with a pretty spectacular young gaffer and utterly deserve what’s coming.

They’d still be in the Champions League had they qualified. They aren’t going for the title they are going for a treble. A trophy more than they’ve won in their entire history.

Staggering and incredible story and as I say, a team of absolute beauty to watch.
