Maybe not great but to me Denver looked the part at first, lightning fast and could go past opponents at will , but so little end product otherwise , add that and he could have made a top class wing back at least at Championship level , the injuries he suffered, meant it just was'nt to be. .
Ligue 2 is fine, plenty good recent players have been sold from there like Kaba to Lecce, Bordeaux sold 2 players for 10m each last summer. And Ba, for his faults, has been pretty good this season. Thats what I mean that we have to get better at loaning players, you have to loan to teams that are going to play the player and if they don't we benefit financially from it. We probably have to pay Chelsea some money every time Burstow doesn't touch the pitch so why shouldn't we do it.
Good points there. Maybe we aren't in a position to impose terms on other teams yet. When we are at the top end of the Championship, we should have more clout.
Might have just condemned blyth to relegation too, they’re just up the road from me and not a bad day out going to watch them (was going to see how Harry Gardiner was getting on really) but they’re absolutely terrible
Interested to see what we do with him next, Carlisle on loan maybe? League 2 so a step up but close enough to still train with us on occasion too
It's interesting because I'm not sure a promotion challenging league 2 team would want a 17 y/o GK but he's that good where I think one of them would take him. Hope he gets a full pre season with us though, then a late July loan to League 2.
Yeah good point forgot they’d been taken over so will have big ambitions, just trying to think of somewhere fairly local, Harrogate/Barrow maybe? Would be fine with him as a number 2 but that won’t benefit him whatsoever
I really like the sound of this lad. One of the most exciting prospects we have alongside Rigg and Watson.
That's ridiculous. Assume there must be more at play than just signing a good keeper on loan but it's still incredibly encouraging. I would assume in 12 months time he will be close to our first team.
Apparently when he signed they had the worst defence in the division, think they got new management and signed a 35 year old LB at the same time who takes some of the credit I believe, but a chunk of that turnaround has to be thanks to Young's impact. Great quote from a Darlo fan: "He just seems incredibly composed and certain in his decision-making, and his distribution is also great - he’s very quick to get the ball moving, he knows when to come for crosses, and I’ve not seen him drop a catch or spill a shot anywhere dangerous. He’s got all the basics absolutely nailed."
Crazy optimistic about him personally. Shame it wasn't a bit higher up the league pyramid and we could have had him challenging Patterson in the preseason.
Sounds like Pickford 2.0 the lad. Incredible achievement by them to stay up that was a massive turnaround.
