The one big improvement under Conte was our set piece performances. I suppose we lost that set piece coach when Conte left.

But Ange is not a one trick pony he has used many methods in his career which is way more than just Celtic. In the J league and as an International coach with Australia. He is not a novice by any means. I think he has a way he wants to play and if he is to get the players and team he wants he needs to stick to that to show the limitations as well as the advantages.

Gianni Vio was let go in the summer and joined Watford in December.
He was supposedly only on attacking set-pieces, though.

Mile Jedinak (defensive) and Ryan Mason (offensive) are our set-piece coaches now.
They do plenty of other coaching, but that's one aspect that should be taken off them.
We don't threaten from our own and we're all over the place from other teams.

It's still very early days with Ange he needs time to get the squad into the shape he needs.

I think it's something that we need to look at, but I also think it's being overplayed.
A bunch of teams fouled him and got away with it. They've clearly been told to stop.
I think it was half-time against Everton when the message went out.

If he needs additional coaching, then we should do it. If he needs more protection, that too.
I think that teams are playing for them because we're **** at defending them, though.
Most sides set up with a low-block and play for set-pieces against us now. That's not a coincidence.

Jedinak is Australian I see so presumably has worked with Ange before. But he came from Palace and Villa so lots of experience in the PL. If he is working on corners I am not impressed.

I see Jedinak is a defensive midfielder and a slip of a lad at 39. Perhaps we should just get him on the park.:emoticon-0105-wink:

I twitch every time the opposition get one. We do appear to have lost the ability to defend them...

Jedinak played under Postecoglou for Australia, but he's never coached under him before.
I think most of our manager's coaching staff from his time at Celtic stayed there.
I know there was a lot of talk about his assistant, John Kennedy, before he decided to stay.

Yes, I believe none of the staff from Celtic came with him...

    1. So why mention the Scottish league ??

    2. Still not true, because if Spurs' squad is inferior to the
current PL top 3, the squad was good enough to play
Ange-ball against them and be unbeaten while scoring
at least two goals in each game.

As were Newcastle today and Fulham and in both cases most people would say that Spurs had the better squad.

    1. because he managed there before and had the best squad.
    2. Over a season I think the current way of players isn’t sustainable. There will be very good days against top sides as very bad days against weaker sides.

Never want to see that kit again. Absolutely rancid.

Lots of work needed in the summer, both on the recruitment front and on the training pitches.
